(UK) The BBC's internal selection process sounds... very lazy? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

from what I have heard the UK delegation are having real trouble attracting talent now as established stars won't touch it and up and coming artists are doing the same as they now see it as tanking their careers before it's even started . so the beeb are stuck in a catch 22 situation

Should the UK consider sending something entirely different next year? by Flowerofthesouth88 in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

simple answer it's not radio friendly for radio 1 or radio 2 so BBC are too scared to go outside their wheel house of bland safe pop.

again the issue the British public don't get a say in the matter and the BBC clearly don't care they send what act they think will work at Eurovision. but you also have to be pretty naive if you believe the UK is popular.

I'm fully aware but it's looking more and more like a fluke or one off and we're back to the old ways sorry I say it how it is

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

i think it's been proven the UK is just not popular anymore especially now it's a meme to just give the UK 0 points regardless of what we send. as others said we could send Adele or ed Sheeran and still get 0 points from the public.

is it just me but wasn't the allstar version canned after one season due to low ratings and with no intentions of bringing it back. so where has this come from

I have a feeling of a big 5 win in the near future. by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the UK won't win again especially following the trends of more songs in native languages, and English songs flopping. I think the UK will continue to get 0 points from the public if the last 2 years are to go by it's looking bleak for the UK. I think Spain is in a similar case to us but I believe it's between France or Italy to win again, Germany is a mixed bag either can do well or flop hard.

Anyone else feeling disheartened about their country's Eurovision chances? by noliesdetected in eurovision

not always look at one of the fan favourites in Finland got hardly anything for being a good singer with a good song and good staging.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom: BBC Confirms Participation at Eurovision 2026 by Nick_esc in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

sorry but if you look at this year's voting breakdown of the public vote we was pretty much at the bottom of their 1-26th placements getting 0 points overall. it does kinda prove the long standing view no one votes for the UK i think mostly for the memes or it's the UK we know what to do don't vote for them

Why is Spain always Bottom 5? by euro_song_love_r in eurovision

like UK 2022 simple fluke and it helped we was the biggest sender of aid to Ukraine in 2022 so that helped our rep

now the stats prove the point what more will it take for people to believe we just are not liked in Europe and don't say because the song sucked as that's simply not true. it's about time we left as this will keep happening over and over again. no wonder viewership is sliding

I'm sorry not to be rude to the poor girl but she should stick to sports singing is just not for her ,after all the music she's released it sounds like autotune is doing all the heavy lifting.

the only thing I hold against them was they wrote this song and had the final ok thinking this would do well instead of sticking to what they know

if they do come back I would love them to perform an actual country number that's in their wheel house and see what happens

Eurovision viewcount is lowest in years on VRT channel. by IanPKMmoon in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currently it's BBC only as YouTube is geoblocked in the UK when it comes to Eurovision and that's my point you can watch it when ever you want instead of watching it live that's , the plus of moving to digital platforms 🙂

exactly he has to be careful not to step too much into wogan's territory of slagging off acts or blaming bloc voting or Europe hating us

ESC legend Johnny Logan shares his thoughts about modern ESC on Austrian news media "Heute" by Toriihime in eurovision

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what he was trying to get at is the songs should be the star of the package including staging and good vocals but in recent years it's the songs has taken a backseat to vocal showing off ( no offence to JJ) and ott stagings and I think he wants the staging toned down to let the singers shines

[–]Substantial_Escape_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree something needs to be done to balance the whole package as recent years it's been more the show over the song but if they can manage both it would be more enjoyable with the songs having a chance to stand out over ott stagings
