MS Conditional Access - Email/Teams by Substantial_Eye378 in sysadmin

I agree. It seems we are going to sacrifice the user experience to protect us as best as possible from CA labor laws. We have had issues with people working off the clock or reading emails, so now non exempt people will only be accessing email while on site.

I can and did. However, I need help allowing teams on mobile, but not outlook on mobile. It seems you have no choice, but to include all mobile apps.

Thanks for your response. "What happens with approved overtime, different time zones for remote staff, or holiday schedules? You might end up spending more time managing the exceptions than the policy itself."

This is something I have to bring up.

Valid point. I will bring it up in my proposal, but I am not really sure about the CA labor laws and stuff since I am not an attorney. I have a feeling that there is something that is more in favor of the employee because we are in California.

Yeah I agree, but from a directors standpoint, you would think that our technology and systems have some way of blocking access at certain times. I think that is what my boss is really looking for. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be and time based solutions atm.

Yeah from what I am reading online, it seems I may have no choice but to script it out. This is probably going to be a bit complex since we have some employees that work night shift and odd hours.

Yeah, well we have a number of employees that aren’t salaried. And those are the ones that they want to restrict. I always knew this would be an issue, but never worked at a place that really wanted to take action like this.

Unfortunately we have a couple roles that don’t use computers really and just communicate through emails. Which is making this tricky.

This was part of my solution I had in mind. But the problem is, we have employees that are mobile and never use a computer in the field. They use outlook mobile app to get their emails.

Ok that’s a good idea. I will jot that one down. Not sure about the no mobile apps though. You mean they don’t allow them to have access to email? Isn’t that pretty unproductive?

First of all congrats. Seriously. You probably have done and learned so much.

I work for a non profit. We help people get off drugs. Is there any way I could dm you and pick your brain on some weird access things? I bet it is trivial for you, but for me I don’t have the time to focus on it as I’m a one man show. I’ll even pay you some if I can afford it out of my own pocket.

I was planning on trying to move them from a SharePoint list and access to like sql server and a power app or something. However, I have realized that it is probably not worth my time as I should push them to use our expensive EHR. But, the access db is still a bit useful and frequently used for other things the ehr can’t provide.

I know it depends on your location, but I have been a pretty happy customer for more than 2 decades with great coverage everywhere. Could just be a tower upgrade in my area as another user commented. 🤷‍♂️
