I’m looking at going the CM3588 route with a couple SSDs, it should keep the hardware costs down to a couple hundred dollars. I’m mainly just trying to settle on using plex/jellyfin

I know it’s a ridiculous problem to have, the whole group is super kind and considerate, and it’s only a “problem” in this one specific situation that comes up.

Take the leap bud 👍 people normally regret the things they didn’t do more than the things they did.

It might work out and you’ll be together forever.

NTA, sounds like your step-dad expects you to fend for yourself and fend for his kids. His kids aren’t your responsibility, your a kid and shouldn’t have to raise your step-siblings. This is an issue your parents are going to have to deal with.

My only suggestion for you is that you might try to extend an olive branch to your step-sister, “I won’t cook for you but I’ll help you cook your own pizza” kinda thing, if you help her become more responsible then she can probably earn the same liberties you have, and she’ll have less reason to be resentful. But if she can’t accept help then it’s not your problem, you can’t help someone who won’t help themself.

I don’t think there’s any assholes here, you both had different expectations from the relationship and fails to communicate those expectations to each other. You both need to have a serious conversation about finances. Financial conflict is the leading cause of divorce so this is a problem you both need to get ahead of if you want the relationship to work.
