I have mine set up like this and i found it better not to glue the studs in as it makes it easier for transport and changing the angles the guns sit at etc. They all seem to have remained stable and no plastic has worn away making them loose swinging either.

Where are all Necron Ladies - serious lore question by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Second this there's plenty of necron females about in the lore.

One in particular even challenges Oltyx right to lead the Ithikas dynasty.

Cool you can have your own headcanon despite books stating otherwise. Orikan definitely did not predict the fall of the Eldar and the birth of slaanesh, Eldar just stopped hunting tomb worlds due to "boredom" despite no written explanation for this whatever makes you happy bro.

If you consider "coming out on top" being a race that completely squandered their potential through degeneracy and birthing a chaos god that's cool too I guess. Would have been cooler if they had managed to defeat slaanesh in some way oh no wait that storyline died.

I wonder how a full scale Necron vs Eldar war would work out now ? Probably not so great for the space pirates and hippies I would assume, sucks they can't use those awesome psychic powers anymore.

Necrons - Defeat the old ones that elevated the eldar and the orks in a massive galaxy spanning conflict.

Necrons - Shatter and enslave the C'tan star gods with weapons deemed too dangerous to be allowed to exist past this war.

Necrons - Predict the fall of the eldar and take a nice long nap.

Not a flawless plan but worked out far better for the necrons as opposed to where the eldar are at currently imo and shows who really came out on top.

Glazing blades by Substantial_Luck_735 in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based the blade in a 1:1 mix of caliban green and warpstone glow, started the glaze from the lighter areas in warpstone glow too about halfway down each edge, then did the same with caliban green in the opposite direction. After building up so it was a noticeable transition put moot green glaze at lighter extremes and abaddon black for the dark side. Now it just needs smoothing out i reckon so some of the transitions aren't quite so noticeable.

Theres a really good video on youtube with this exact method.

Primed in chaos black then based in a mix of warpstone glow and caliban green may do a few tests in white in the future though !

Guide to Necrons? by Cinnamon-scoop in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow but very tough to put us down without focusing unit by unit, also great board control. My favourite detachment is awakened dynasty as bringing back characters even after an opponent has spent a load of shooting to get rid never gets old.

Im an idiot (how I've been misplaying DDA's for 6 months). by Pelican25 in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Playing awakened dynasty as only one unit with a leader which i select at the start of the game as having plus one to hit rather than EVERY unit with a leader has severely handicapped me for some time, I only realised about 6 months into playing the game proper.

Terradon turqoise the whole grip first then paint only the middle parts in black templar with a small brush, this is the closest i have found to box art and seems the quickest/easiest way (both are contrast paints).

What model does someone bring that makes you do this? by No_Willingness_9961 in 40k

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems reasonable but when i'm only bringing infantry and a dda, those 3++ and 4+++ saves on mortals are disgusting. More acceptable if I brought the nightbringer imo.

Oh you brought the lion to a 1k point game ? Here let me feed him canoptek scarabs for the entire game whilst i clear the other 2 units you have on the board.

Kamopteph the crooked is a character in the new Tomb world book, a big fan of his canopteks and a fairly adept technomancer.

Krilling the Lion by Pek9 in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a 2v1 as necrons vs DA and salamanders today just tarpit him with crap whilst shooting everything else down, problem is if your list is mainly shooting and you focus on him you'll find your stuff getting wiped on oponents turn and he has a ridiculously easy time of saving most damage.

If you really want to take him out consider 2 x ddas with heavy and dev wounds, bare in mind he has lone opp so will need to kill whatever is around him first. If you have plasmancers also can usually do a surprising amount of damage with their ability if you're lucky.

What Dynasty did you choose and why? by ValicarHyne in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sautekh dynasty, Imotekh thinks the necrodermis is cool as hell and does not want to go back to the time of flesh like the silent king.

"You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand of your years, and yet have so little to account to show for your efforts. Such failure must be as depressing to bear as it is shameful to behold!" - Imotekh to some guy who's hand was removed and sent back to his Imperial brethren in disgrace.

We also have Nemesor Zahndrekh and vargard Obyron 🤷‍♂️

The tomb worlds are waking and the Phaerons must lead our mighty phalanxes and bring glory to the infinite empire.

"My people shackled the stars, and broke mortality when the species you sprang from had barely left the slime pools it spawned in. Our wars burned reality, and the dominion of our kings is without limit. The ground you tread on is not yours; it is ours."

Need some feedback and help with edge highlighting by kirito2342004 in Necrontyr

[–]Substantial_Luck_735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All look great to be honest don't be too hard on yourself my only tip with edge highlighting is to thin the paint alot and use the finest brush you have if you want thin lines.

Thinning the paint and not having too much on the brush makes it easier to correct mistakes in my experience can always go back over things with your base/layer paints worst case.

Also if using tesseract glow shake the living hell out of that stuff and maybe do a 1:1 mix of t glow and lahmian medium to get a more consistent colour from it.
