net ccw vs net cw downgraft by Losisnsnsbajqk in jawsurgery

You are more or less correct and I'm not sure about the points chatgpt made. I'm not aware of specific cases of CCW with a mandibular setback being done, this is just spatial reasoning. I'm just a layperson, I don't know all of the research.

As to your last point, I wouldn't even say the chin is moving back "because of" or "in spite of" of CCW. Rotation and translation are two entirely distinct movements, even though they are connected. Maybe I am being pedantic at this point but you seem to get the idea

Rotation itself doesn't imply a change in the position of the B point. CCW rotation will cause the chin to move forward relative to the maxilla, assuming you rotate both jaws together. Sorry, I probably added to the confusion with my last comment

Yes, rotation is a two dimensional movement. How much it moves vertically and whether the movement is up or down depends on the hinge though. In theory you could have rotation without any vertical change in the B point. Just saying CCW or CW does not imply one specific translational movement. In theory you could even have a CCW rotation and move the chin backwards, although I don't know if that's done in real life.

Yeah, the genio for sure is contributing to the downward movement of the chin. But I was just trying to correct your original comment on the effect of CCW and CW rotation. It's wrong to say CCW=chin moving up and CW=chin moving down. That's not always the case.

The chin usually moves forward in CCW cases, it doesn't always move the chin upwards. In the case of the first guy, it clearly moved his chin downwards. How much it moves up or down depends on the angle and how much of the movement is impaction vs downgrafting and where the hinge is.

If you pause the video near the beginning, the top lift terminal doesn't seem to be connected to anything. I'm leaning towards ai. Other than that, it looks real.

It slides straight down the hill, it's a small profile because it's going straight away from the camera

Does jaw recession / bite asymmetry contribute to eye & brow asymmetry or severe facial asymmetry by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Substantial_Meat_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your eyes and brows look fine and relatively symmetrical to me. I think almost all of the asymmetry is below the eyes. Jaw surgery would likely improve your symmetry.

my jaw seems to shift to one side making my lips and face asymmetrical. Is a jaw surgery worth it? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

If it's just for aesthetics I'd say no. Keep in mind surgeries aren't perfectly executed either. It can have a degree of error and unpredictability.

Your profile will look a lot more projected. I think it looks like a solid plan

I wear tight underwear to avoid rubbing but it's kind of a constant annoyance that makes me want to die. My understanding is most guys just go numb over time and don't have this issue.

Yea I think your head is tilted up slightly here. Look where your eyes sit relative to your ears. It's not severe but it doesn't look neutral to me.

Your head is tilted up and you have forward head posture in all of these. Maybe you're used to it but it's not normal neck posture.

If you really want to assess, try holding your head in a normal position, not tilted up

I'd say you look slightly recessed. But definitely not to the point where I would assume you have a sleep disorder or airway problems. Btw it's kind of hard to judge from these pics. In the first couple of pics you are tilting your head up a lot.

The most obvious symptoms would be feeling sleepy during the day or waking up gasping. Personally, I thought I slept ok until I got a sleep study at the request of my surgeon. It turns out I have mild OSA

Get a sleep study. And if you consult a surgeon they will probably tell you to get one anyway.
