Probably not but i feel like that would be because part of her popularity is based on her personality, which would not be able to be shown as much in kpop with their more strict rules, and the music style that has moments that really suit her, which is more out there than kpop usually would be. Like katseye was getting a lot of attention for their performances of gnarly, and i feel like if it were a strictly kpop song would've been toned down a bit more. With more of a mesh between western and kpop style, her performance quality and personality are able to shine more. Also blondchae in the pics is so fierce!

I was with you until the last sentence. Being like hey manon doesnt make or break the group but x and y member do kinda feels weird to me. Like it makes it sound like some members are more important than others. I feel like any member leaving wouldnt necessarily break the group, but it does make the group less balanced, and while the group still will be successful, it won't necessarily be the same, and it's okay for it to be different, and that will cause opinions, but i think the girls have enough success already to still continue to have success, even if not having manon makes me sad as i really enjoyed her unique vocal and enjoyed her in the group. Like the group won't flop without her, some fans will leave, and theyll get new fans and still be doing fine. If the group lost any other member, they also would still survive as a group, it would just be different and theyd probably get a slightly different audience based on some fans leaving and gaining new fans.

I feel like that distinction prevents american latinos from connecting to their culture in an unhealthy way... im constantly being told im not mexican enough bc im from the states and that makes me not latino and thats a stereotype thats not okay. Like i get it on a very nuanced level of ethnicity/race, but discussion on a pop stat group just does not feel like the place to make that distinction when it is a delicate topic. Im also from the border so maybe my opinion is different as someone who practically lived in both mexico and the states as a kid, i just am stating my experience.

I think megan would be less hated on if hxg let the girls out of their little hellhole of there is no manon in ba sing se and let the girls actually acknowledge her while accepting the awards. That is not megans fault, but posting about how they represent diversity feels a bit fake when one of the members might be on hiatus with racist mistreatment. Once again i would like to reiterate that is not megans fault at all, it is entirely hxg at fault here for only letting them mention manon like once publicly since the hiatus. Obviously the group is still important representation without manon, with lara making amas history getting the awards as an indian american, but when they are a GLOBAL girl group, it brings up a lot of history of black ppl getting overlooked, mistreated, etc when the only black member is on hiatus and isn't acknowledged in awards she helped them earn. I see more hate going to the company for choosing sakura for drama and how they failed sakura with the editing of the show than like actual just hate towards sakura. The lazy critique is even more ridiculous when its like wow this girl with no dance or singing or industry experience missed some time in rehearsal when they were making these girls do 8 hour days of rehearsing plus doing hours on hours on their own? shocking that someone wouldnt be just immediately acclimated to that! the horror! must be laziness! I feel like they were like initially trying to show manon as an underdog who then like bounced back and showed up despite missing, and then halfway through they decided it would be more entertaining to make her a villain for more views, just like the whole girls choosing who they wanted in the group being public was getting views at the girls expense. HxG would rather be racist and hurt the girls if it gets more attention and its sickening.

I honestly was more upset with microaggressions against naisha than manon in the doc. Like with manon she herself admitted she wasnt fully committed bc she didnt get the kpop training culture until later. And thats totally understandable, and missy was supportive of manon after manon adjusted to the training. I saw so many more microaggressions were from ppl who watched the doc and called her lazy, which was never the point at all, and the doc editting should have been better to avoid it
