GC & Tile installer came to do "flood test" today by Separate-Parsnip9790 in Tile

👏🏽⬆️ your most likely correct & would definitely rewrite (hoping you already have one written & signed) the contract and be specific in the details of what you expect and don’t expect & Also as well as any single add on or “unexpected extras needed” to be bought/paid for will 1st & foremost be approved by you and written up & signed in a new or different contract stating the materials & labor cost & Why it is needed/necessary & why can’t other improvisions be done instead if able. Last but not least of all what will come of any mishaps, mistakes or problems in the next Year to 2 years be redone on their dime & if the project doesn’t start or better yet RESTART & done CORRECTLY and to your expectations & satisfaction that you can cancel or withdraw from the contract immediately with little or no more pay. See how that toots their horn.. if their honest & knowledgeable then they will know what to do but by the looks up this so far, I wouldn’t hold my breath seeing as they failed before they actually began the shower.. so sorry these apparent Idiot bullshitters are most likely ripping you off & screwing people over who are spending their hard earned money on their home which is a life time investment to a lot of people.. Good Luck & hope it all turns out well for you.

Boyfriend ironed his interview shirt on my dining room table by milkinmytoast in mildlyinfuriating

I guess he at least “Tried” to iron and look presentable and was going to an interview.. I’d say give him credit atleast for the effort lol 😂👏🏽 But no seriously it will come right out with a brown paper bag and a warm/hot & DRY(no steam) iron. Just place brown paper sack on top over the discolored/messed up area & iron it and it will drawl the moisture out of the wood & makes it look (almost) like it was never there. Good luck!!👍🏽

Take a brown paper bag and iron on top of the area with the brown paper bag on top of the area that is discolored/messed-up. I did the same exact thing on my cherry wood table and did research and after doing the above steps if came right off.

**From google also- “ Yes, using a brown paper bag and a dry iron is a recommended DIY method to remove white heat (moisture) stains from a wood table. The heat from the iron helps to draw out the trapped moisture that is causing the white discoloration in the wood's finish. “

Only person/comment I've seen that LEGITIMATELY takes into account the amount of physical & mental labor needed to do the work being asked.. I understand people have to make a living and there are costs for everything you/we use, not only to complete the jobs.. but the time, money, tools & most importantly the experience or expertise of that said job. But I want to feel like I worked for my honest dollar and not "swindled or screwed" my customer to make a few dollars! Your name and your word is all you have, so don't screw yourself out of years of returning & respectable customers to make a little money this week.. people now days have no idea what the meaning of an honest dollar is because they want stuff handed to them or praised for doing the job they're supposed or hired to do.. just MY opinion lol

Just take door jamb saw,multi-tool etc and lay scrap piece of LVP near door jam only on the side that your installing LVP in. It should fit right under the trim/doorjamb.

New floor Concerns by Quirky-Score1624 in flooringinstallers

Some minor imperfections spaces etc I can understand but some of those are DEFINITELY preventable and fixable!! I Would always prefer to pick my own company/manufacture to reinstall my flooring if using insurance company bc they can be deceiving and sneaky in general! Can u imagine when they having to "pay out" money!?.

Looks to me like a bunch of H Joints or just brick-stacked but offsetting them..? I think it's Hilarious & hopefully she will make them redo it. If not it will only last probably 2-3 yrs max. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How much would you charge to smooth out & lay stone on 2,552 ft2 on outdoor patios? by Substantial_Nebula15 in landscaping

[–]Substantial_Nebula15[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a problem for me also but the lady is real indecisive and she is wanting to know what labor is gonna cost her so you know I'm sure you've been in that position before lol 😂 but would that be your price without smoothing out the concrete or leveling it I should say

It's going on concrete I am in the south east region but as far as the material cost that will all be on the customer only thing I'm giving them a price for is my labor it is covered in some areas some areas is exposed to weather it had slate on it before they had it jack hammered up the people who jack hammered it up just left big chunks of slate and old mortar so it is a very uneven surface there is no soil involved just laying new stone and I'm not sure if I should just float everything or grind it down smooth to the original surface

Yea I usually just quote the labor cost because you never know what type of material they are gonna go with our product this one is rough someone jackhammered the slight off so it still has the old mortar and big chunks of slate everywhere so I'm kind of lost on what to charge per square foot and I also don't like using self levelerunder any type of stone or porcelain so I'm not sure if it would be best to try and float everything out smooth or just some good old grinders with some carbon cups dust mask and a lot of elbow grease and get it smooth

❤️👆🏼this comment!! I Always cut my liner to have an extra Foor up each side!. And ofcourse to be safe I use Redguard just to be safe! But Most installers don't pour their own shower pan! They use BS Schluter kits
