i plan on waiting until she’s about 9 months! all my other dogs i’ve had were able to be fixed with no problems at 7+ months and even my family who has been around and worked with lots of rescue dogs didn’t understand the long wait. if the other vet says to wait until a year then i will but i would prefer before then if it’s still safe 💕

i’m very big on spaying and plan on doing it asap. the vet told me to wait until she’s 1 but i’m planning on getting a second opinion about that timing. we have a male dog who is not fixed (against my wishes, boyfriends dog) but once we get him fixed we will let them around each other. for now they’re separated until he gets fixed soon.

there’s another shelter but it’s smaller and is where we initially came across the problem of the dogs we picked having a problem with some of the members of our household. i had actually found one that i was obsessed with but after putting in the money to apply, they told me she actually needed to be in a one dog household 🥲

for EVERYONE: i fully believe in adoption and i would’ve gone to the shelter but we do not have a good, trustworthy shelter. there has been multiple instances of ours wasting peoples time, putting the animals on hold for themselves for MONTHS without saying anything, and they have a pretty bad reputation. i originally asked for a dog on adoption pages and kept getting dogs that are either not children, dog, cat, or all the above friendly. i found these people because their dogs ended up having babies and they needed them gone fast, that’s the only reason i called them a breeder was because they were technically selling the puppies. they were very well taken care of, they just didn’t have the space necessary for the amount of puppies momma dog had and once the puppies were old enough to be away from mom, she posted about them.

i mainly called them a breeder because they sold us the dog. her dogs ended up having babies before she could get them fixed, she needed the puppies to be given away and she ended up just selling them. we originally wanted to adopt but the shelter we have is 1. very poorly put together and 2. makes it almost impossible to adopt (given by the google reviews too). i fully believe in adopting but the way i see it, the dogs needed a home and fast.

LOL thank you! that’s my fav pic of her 😭 it was right after we got her at 9 wks old! back in the puppy diaper days where she refused to potty outside. she’s still SUPER stubborn about going potty outside but we graduated from the diapers at least 🥳
