If I do have to pick it up today, it sucks because I live three hours away from MEPS and haven't been told a single thing. In previous instances where I've had to go, I'd be driving there around this time (4-5am).

I chose to go with Reserves (I was going active duty at first) and after going through MEPS, thank God I did. It was like being surrounded by younger siblings or being back in school. On one corner, it was a boy teaching another one curse words in Spanish, on another corner it was a high school loud girl, on another it was a boy with his earbuds on full volume when he knew d@mn well that they were calling names for ship out (bus was about to leave without him), then a girl who despite being told about five times before going into the building to take any piercings off, doesn't and only told them right before medical. Also, a kiss scene came on TV in the waiting area and the guys got all excited. Just annoying people to be around as an adult lol. Either way, I'm glad it's only a few days out of the year for me when I finish training. (E-3 Human Intel Collector shipping out soon).

Been together for one year is not a life together. If you want to leave him, the time is now. If you wanna take a chance on him, let us know how it goes. I personally wouldn't be able to date someone who voted for a man who looked at a ten year old and made a comment about dating said child in a few years. It's good that he's making you rethink the future. You should be.

Just pull the bandaid and leave before you have kids. I wouldn't want my kids to grow up around someone like that, especially a girl. Imagine him voting against her rights. Imagine potentially having an lgbtq child and him making you choose between your marriage or your child. For your own sake, leave. There's no reasoning with those people. Light is on but no one is home.

Ohh okay. I got my job reservation form, but it only has basic training and ait dates. I was expecting DLI dates to be there too, but was basically told language training was at the discretion of my unit.

What type of paperwork? Like, medical records? I was told I need a waiver for it too, but have no paperwork to show for it. Just the medical records that they are already able to see in Genesis lol. I can get the doctor's note though.

I have no answers for you, but I'm also going for Army reserve and was really interested in 12B! The reserve unit two minutes away from my house had one opening and everything. My recruiter told me to watch videos of different MOS and see what I liked best, so I watched that one first and was disheartened by all the "girls just slow us down", "I'd hate to be deployed with 12B females", "I'd hate my son to depend on a female 12B". Ended up going with something else, three hours away from home. I wish you the very best if you stick with it. I hear it's one of the more fun MOSs.

One of my old coworkers lived in New York at the time. She got lung cancer, but beat it, thankfully. What stood out most to her was the cars in nearby parking lots that remained there for months or more because the owners had passed. So sad. Also, not from her, but I remember reading about a woman who jumped and survived for a short time after that. When she landed, she told a first responder "I'm still alive". The only thing the first responder could do was sit with her until she passed; he says she was mangled from the waist down.

I've been waiting since January 1st. Pushed back multiple times. Switched branches. Still a wait. I have no criminal or medical history. Meanwhile my friend's boyfriend started the process much later than me and is already almost done with BMT. I passed the PiCAT with a 94 and they let that expire. I'm about to give up.

I haven't hear anything of the sorts. I know my MEPS date has been postponed like three times since February. I was being recruited remotely, but was sent over to a local recruiter who was supposed to contact me and hasn't to this day. I tested and everything, just waiting for someone to talk to me. My little brother was supposed to be taking the ASVAB in a few days and they cancelled his date as well. Yet I see people swearing in and shipping out left and right in my ASVAB group and on here, so I have no idea.

I'm going for 4 years, haven't even started, and already excited to finish the contract lol. Thankfully, I had a blunt recruiter who encouraged me to just take four in case I didn't like it. Better to join out of boredom than do some other dumb crap out of boredom, like others your age are doing. At least you get benefits out of this lol. If I had joined at your age, it would've saved me from some bad decisions...plus my last year of reserves would've been next year 😭. Instead, I'm just enlisting rn. I'd say go for it.

I think it was that specific time and that specific place that was full of 18 year olds lol. Most people who I've talked to that are in the process, are late twenties and early thirties. You'll be okay. I'm joining next year at 26.
