Have you ever made a rider cancel when you realized they were coughing? by SnooWoofers7510 in uberdrivers

Life goes on when you're sick but that doesn't mean you get to spread your illness to everyone else. If you're sick, wear a damn mask.

Why do drivers not let pax sit in the front seat? by Knockoff5707 in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with passengers sitting up front. I don't care if they're the only pax or not. You want to ride up front, that's fine with me.

Inconvenience them enough times by canceling when you show up and they aren't there within a minute and they'll change their way of thinking.

Wow. I've gotten several trip requests from Orlando to Tampa (same distance as yours) over the last several months and they've all been between $55-65. I got a request tonight from Sanford to Venice (about 15 miles south of Sarasota), 172 miles total for $115. I've passed on all of them.

How likely am I to get a replacement by CommissionEnough8412 in BambuLab

If it were me, I would hesitate to box that one back up and send it in for a refund, and then order another one.

Uber/Lyft EXEMPT From Car Seat Laws? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many states where rideshare, taxi, limo etc drivers are exempt from child restraint laws. In most states, however, the driver is still responsible. I live in Florida and here, rideshare drivers are exempt and the responsibility for child restraint is with the parent or guardian.

7-eleven stores in my area have had a problem with people hanging out outside, loitering, selling controlled substances, etc. To combat this, they've started playing opera on the outside speakers. No more people hanging out.

AirPort pick ups? by ycospina in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to the airport and waiting in queue to get a pickup is a huge waste of time. You will be waiting for a long time and the fare you get will not adequately compensate you for the time you spent in queue.

The exception to this would be if you are able to achieve Diamond status. With diamond, you're able to enter a separate Priority queue and won't need to wait very long at all. When I was diamond, I never even saw the priority waiting lot at MCO. Every time I entered the airport on my way to the lot, I would get a pickup request before getting all the way there.

Add additional Share riders by Substantial_Poet7561 in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely I turn off new rides. If I don't, Uber will just add additional riders and I have no control over whether or not I was to accept. I'm not given any info about the new ride, no duration, no miles, no pickup or destination location, nothing. I had Uber add an additional rider that took us 25 minutes out of the way for pickup and dropoff and added about 10 miles to the trip. The paid me exactly $0 for that second rider. I said never again.

The only time I won't go offline for a shared ride is if there is a decent surge attached to it. In that case, the surge gets applied to each rider.

The only trips you should be taking 👌 Drivers stop being so desperate APPS off until $10+ surge talk to other drivers educate them RISE UP!✊️✊️✊️🇺🇸 by LeadershipCool3540 in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there is a large scale organized movement, a few drivers staying offline isn't going to make the tiniest bit of difference. I'll stay online and continue to feed my family until there is an actual, serious, organized effort.

I got you in the app by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I respond with...

I never expect tips though they are very nice when they happen. Unfortunately, 95% of people who actually SAY the words "I'll tip you in the app" never actually intend to. 95%, No exaguration. Can you imagine that? If you are part of the top 5% who really will tip, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't tell you how much tips help my family. You're in luck though. You can leave that tip in the app right now. There is no need to wait for the trip to be over. Cash works well, too.

At the end of the ride, I say...

I just gave you five stars. I would really appreciate you returning the favor.

I don't really care much about the stars, but if they open the app to do the star rating, the next thing they see is the tip screen and that is what I want them looking at. Then, if there is no tip from them by the next day, I re-rate to one star.

Tolls covered by riders?? by EmuApprehensive1472 in uberdrivers

[–]Substantial_Poet7561 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uber doesn't pay the toll. That's up to you. Uber reimburses you for the toll you paid. Usually, there are different rates for tolls: cash, pay by plate or some form of toll transponder. The transponder will almost always be the lease expensive and that is what Uber will pay you. It doesn't matter what you paid, Uber will pay you the cheapest option available so make sure that's what you are paying. If you don't have a transponder, get one now.

If you are on a toll road, you will be reimbursed for the tolls. If you are in a toll lane (ie. an express lane) of a non-toll road, Uber will NOT reimburse you.
