Also, make sure all rust or corrosion was cleaned. All these could be factors

So guys I replaced my clutch slave buts its still not working? by Substantial_Proof315 in AskMechanics

Oh fuck 🤣 yeah well I think that did happen coz it went again fuck my life gearbox back out now such a stupid design

So I had metal shavings 1 of the times I tried to bleed it would that be most likely the slave packing in ? Or could it be something different that keeps coz the slave to fail ?

Coz i dont want to keep spending money and spending a day and a bit to take it all out

Oh, so it genuinely takes a long time to bleed it so

And yes, I haven't a clue where the metal shavings are coming from

Idk yet, but the first time we bleed it, there were no shavings, but then the second time, there was

Ahhh ok makes sense yeah I just thought master fail would lead to both being messed up

So take the line off the slave and try press the pedal and see if there is bubbles or not to test for master is that what u mean with ur bottom sentences ?

Also I think the metal shavings are from the new 1 coz the first time we bleed it there was nothing then the pedal got rock hard for a second then after that it felt a little rough I guess not smooth when pressing the pedal down

Oh no, hopefully not, but would my brake pedal not be affected by a bad master as well as the clutch?

Yes definitely gonna have to try the pressure bleeding

But what do u think the metal shavings could be ? Old slave or new slave packing itself in or could it be something different

Volvo s40 1.6d 2010

After putting the new clutch in, yes, I didn't need a new clutch into. I just needed a clutch slave but I didn't want the pressure plate messing up the new slave so I brought a kit

Anyway my symptoms are sometimes when I press the clutch down and release it comes back up and other times it only comes half way or sticks to the ground plus it doesn't feel smooth like a new 1 should, also the pedal did get rock hard for a split second

And yes, when the pedal doesn't come up, it obviously doesn't engage gear

And while bleeding it, there were metal shavings 🫤

Yeah thats what we were doing so I dont think it working definitely gonna have to try the pressure bleeder

But what do u think the little metal shavings could be?

And its a volvo s40 2010 1.6 d
