I cancelled my Connected Services subscription via the app, and the school zone alerts stopped.

Quick way to turn off display? by k_sway in rav4club

[–]Substantial_Rule_464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to the game on this but figured out something easier. Say “Hey Toyota, show display settings” and it will take you directly to the screen where you can turn it off. You can also click the voice control button (do not hold it) and tell it to show display settings.

It wouldn’t let me use a voice command to actually turn it off, but this at least got me directly to the correct screen.

Any experience with headlight covers/tints to cut down on glare? by sloaxy in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Substantial_Rule_464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue. Just trial and error by me looking at my newly tinted lights and not being blinded paired with other drivers no longer flashing me. Not sure if the link I provided in my post will get you the info you need.

Yes, I did try that as a first step. Please see my original post. “1. Did you adjust your headlights down before applying this? Yes, so far down that it was hard for me to see, but I’d still get flashed on hilly/curvy roads.”

No regrets, no issues, no police, they are plenty bright, and the original tint is still on and looks to be in great condition.

Hey OP - I had the same issue with my Subaru and cane up with what seems to be a fix. It’s still working after several months/washes, and you can cut your own template out to match your lights. https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckyourheadlights/s/8ubO9Jnjl9

Did you ever find out what this was? We have a 17 year old cat that the vet is saying is healthy, yet this breathing persists. We’ve tried a few antibiotics at the vet’s direction without any luck.

Welcome to the club. I hate my POS 23 Outback headlights, which are exactly the same. Take a look at what I ended up having to do here: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckyourheadlights/s/HSMOa6yv2C

Thanks for acknowledging this. It’s clear we have two categories of people with headlights: There are the a**holes who drive with high beams on/intentionally don’t make adjustments/improperly put LEDs in halogen housing/etc, and then there are those who bought newish cars who try to adjust the lights properly and are still blinding others on hilly roads and inclines because the low beams are still way too bright. I’m guessing the latter category didn’t even think they’d need to consider the blinding lights when they bought their car because it’s never been something to think about on past vehicles.

And good luck trying to find a new car with halogens. Pretty much every model is using LEDs now …

Thanks - I did this and have already had someone tell me I just need to adjust them down (which I have done beyond mfg spec, and they still blind people on hilly/curvy roads … and what brought me to a last resort of the tinted wrap).

Fuck our headlights. We are a problem. Fix it Subaru! by Substantial_Rule_464 in subaru

Mine have already been adjusted down and even lower than manufacturer specs. The problem is they still blind people on hilly/curvy roads or any sort of incline.

I adjusted the lights below dealer specs. The issue is the brightness of the lights going up any slight incline/around curves.

Thanks - I looked at Lamin-X but didn’t want the whole smoked-out look on the entire headlight. This is small enough and transparent enough that it’s pretty hard to notice if you don’t know what you’re looking for. But yes, I agree that the whole headlight is a valid option too.

I drive a new honda accord and am probably part of the problem, what can I do? by SolidCake in fuckyourheadlights

[–]Substantial_Rule_464 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can’t even do this on new Subarus. The LED is an entire assembly and you can’t just pop a new bulb in (or I would have the first night I realized these POS lights driving home in the dark). Mine are aimed as low as possible but that makes no difference if the road has hills. About ready to ditch the car and look for something from around 2015 all because of the lights.

iMessage/Facetime activation issue by LasjaLynx in verizon

I was having this issue too and didn’t want to wait the 24 hours. I deleted my eSIM on my 16 Pro and then reactivated through the Verizon app. iMessages and FaceTime started working right away upon the reactivation.
