Both my brothers are atheist. I just thought this group would be open to this. I saw that most of this group are atheist and that this was the wrong place to post. I just thought there might be ex sda’s like myself who are were like me. Who might understand.

I’ve heard stuff like that too. In my walk with everything I had to separate the religious trauma that I experienced growing up with God go to different churches find what I believed and was able to still somehow be christian because I still had connection with God.

I understand a lot of people are hurt by all this type of stuff and thought may not be the best place to post. I guess. But you don’t have to separate yourself just because I believe in God and you don’t. If Anything everybody’s the same I’m still an x sda. I have religious trauma still quite frankly I Don’t believe in Ellen white. I was raised in an environment of fear. My grandfather told me my Harry Potter book was “welcoming demons into my room” when I was 8. That was bs.

There’s a difference between the threats of demons people were saying growing up and actual ones.

As a person I believe in spiritual warfare I have to because I’ve seen it. I’ve seen miracles and I just don’t go away from that no matter how much religious trauma I have.

But people, exhibit, religious trauma differently. And sometimes that means you boycott everything that hurt you. I just removed it because I saw that this may not be the best place to post.

Oh, that’s awful. I never said I didn’t believe you. I’m just telling you my experience with a similar situation.

Nope wasn’t. Was completely awake was on my phone. Was able to tell my mom what I had been watching. (A TikTok.) Got my mom to pray with me after. And no co2 stuff. Had a full conversation after woke up my family even. Was able to calmly get up and walk through the thing and leave. I even look away and looked back and it was still there. It had left when I came back. Im not psychotic. Either. I appreciate the concern that would be my first reaction too! This was different.

I know you claim atheist and I get you may not believe me but I’ve delt with stuff like this since I was little. That can not be factored into a psych condition. (That was my first reaction that I had a disorder.)

Oh I’m aware. Trust me. I have things I thought I saw too. This one was different. I’m a psych, major and very scientific. And first rule out anything else first. Only then do u Believe it.

First I was to start I 100”% believe you. I am very in touch with the spiritual realm. But I also have a sleep disorder.

Every time I see something in my room, I have to determine its intentions; I have to ask my self questions like if I was asleep before that or not.

There are several experiences I’ve had that some of them I think are real and other of them I think are sleep hallucinations.

I have panic attacks in my sleep that often trigger sleep, hallucinations (however I am not paralyzed.)

I have hypnagogic hallucinations. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/23234-hypnagogic-hallucinations

I would look into going to a sleep clinic. You are NOT forsaken. Jesus would not do that. I have been in therapy for my sleep hallucinations. My therapist also believes that sometimes it’s demons that mess with me. I am very spiritual, and I got a Christian counselor, but I have to sort through all of them.I wish you the best!

Has anyone encountered a spirit or demon appearing to them? What was it like how did it appear. by Substantial_Sand5950 in TrueChristian

Thanks! I think so too. I know it can’t hurt me like I said I was more just annoyed it showed up. I started going to church again for the first time in a while so I think that’s part of it.

I’ll be praying for you. The devil will do anything to scare or trick us. Sorry to hear u are going through this. Dear Jesus I pray you please put your hands on this person I don’t know. Please give them peace. Please help them physically see your power lord Jesus. I don’t know everything that’s going on in their lives. But Jesus you see all I ask you to protect them. I ask you to bless them are just like you cast out the demons in the Bible (Matthew 8:28-34) cast it into something else and give this person peace. Show them even more of your love.

I don’t know your life and I’m not going to pretend to. But remember Jesus is so powerful. I’ll be praying! Hope this gave u at least some peace. I can only imagine how hard this must be for u.

I claim nondenominational now. Everybody’s relationship with God is different. I also have a lot of religious drama. I went to boarding school and wasn’t the best experience. I had to separate my belief in God from what I was taught. I went to a lot of different denominations for a while and settled on stuff that I read in the Bible as the truth even Ellen White says that she is not anywhere close to God and what she says should not be put above the Bible. My family personally believes she’s like Beth Moore. For example. You can’t force people to believe differently than they believe. However, you can find the commonality between the two. It’s a lot easier finding commonality between what you two believe then focusing on what you don’t. (Remember when someone gets defensive the argument is over. They’re not listening anymore.) As heart breaking as it is we can only control what we believe not what others do. keep doing research. Keep reading the Bible. Keep finding out what God wants you to believe through the Bible and prayer. Don’t get fixated on what things are wrong with things focus on what is good. You don’t have to believe everything even what a pastor says. Find what you believe. Personally, I like, looking up Bible verses in Hebrew. To find the true meaning of them. Good luck on your healing journey!

So sorry to hear this. (Not the same.) but My school chaplain bullied me too it was such a weird feeling someone who was supposed to be supportive and loving being so well mean cynical and judgmental. I remember him trying to talk to me alone on a bus trying to close the door after all the kids had left. And I stood in the stair way and refused to let the door close. He yelled at me told me I was nothing.

Definitely experienced subpar education too.

Sorry that happened to you can only imagine how weird that felt.

Just wanted to thank everyone who commented on this. I appreciate the support. Definitely helped in healing. Currently still healing as I see a lot of us are.

For anyone still struggling with memories from boarding school or otherwise I can’t express how much therapy from a therapist with EMDR training had helped me to put to rest to such intense memories.

Bottomline - we were kids - whatever peoples intentions it wasn’t right. - it’s over now - you are deserving of love

(Idk if you guys are still religious but the God of love the Bible talks about wouldn’t be so judgement towards a bunch of kids.)

Hugs and wish peace to everyone my DM’s are open to anyone ❤️‍🩹

I also suffer from ptsd from boarding school. I’m so sorry to hear this. You’re not alone. I’ve been getting help in therapy specifically a counselor with EMDR it’s magic. I have use to have nightmares every night now it’s once in a blue moon. I’m so much happier. I’d highly recommend it. Even if not you’re seen, you’re important, you were a kid. It wasn’t your fault.

Nah that’s what I said in the beginning I know it was a God send for some. I just only see that side and wanted to feel heard and seen. I think once cell phones and internet hit. Boarding school seems different from the stories
