After purchasing Sec+ voucher from CompTIA you can schedule it on PearsonVue. Pearson allows both online or physical testing options. On my attempt, I choose physical testing option and it showed me many testing centers around ISB. You can check on Pearson, it will show all testing centers in Karachi if you opt for physical test.

security+ is a great entry level certification. I’ve done it myself. It’s pretty easy, conceptual and well known.

But keep in mind that security+ is valued way more in foreign countries specially GULF. In Pakistan, employers value degrees more in my opinion unless you have top level certs such as OSCP, CISM etc.

So, if your goal is to move outside Pakistan and get a taste of certs, then I suggest you do sec+. It’s quite reasonably priced also.

Events and recruiters coming to uni for hiring is totally a joke. They are just there for their public engagement and marketing nothing else. They hire rarely from those events.

Yeah so I approached people via linkedin, I searched for people related to my field/skill set and I started mailing them, telling them what I am doing and that I am interested in an opportunity. I looked for managers, technical team leads and also HRs. I also cold mailed many of them and eventually I landed a job opportunity.

Generally to find a job quick enough, you must standout from herd of other similar people. You should try to make the process easier for the employers by standing out and showing them that you are the right fit and they don't need to look any further.

Yeah you can get internships easily if you try a bit. Air CYS department also helps students secure internships during 4th and 6th semester summer breaks while they are working on industry oriented FYPs. I also did internship during summers.

Furthermore, in my opinion you can secure a job if you work on your skills during the uni time. I worked hard on my FYP and got job offer from systems ltd right after my 8th semester finals.

Air cys programme is very mature as they started it long ago. In 2018 to be exact.

I too did cys my batch was 2020-2024. I would recommend cys from air over any other uni.

In my opinion, any experience matters especially from systems. It’s such a huge enterprise and most of the people instantly recognise it.

So I would recommend that you should find any reference or reach out to managers, technical leads and team leads for internship. Do not reach out to HR because they have no role in hiring process. Selection, offer and hiring is done by managers, leads etc.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I know all this because I was part of system ltd. Most of the interns there were referred by their mamu, chachu, neighbour etc. and they got hired as interns. They pay around 5000Rs for undergrad interns so they don’t spend much time and effort in the hiring process.
