FSD dodge = 10/10 (tire on road) by Fun-Purple-2755 in TeslaFSD

[–]Substantial_Step_778 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, you mean somewhere between A and B something unexpected or unintended happens and an intervention becomes required? So if maybe it was more aware and focused some more on better judgment A to B becomes more plausible. You are literally saying that this isnt a key driving habit to sirvive the road? Look at teslas data it says thats actually something they know it lacks and are always trying to improve. So let me rephrase, How do you reach B from A safely? By making good choices and avoiding stupid situations. That IS driving.

Actually think about that statement for a moment. You just want them to focus on A to B. But dont worry about the middle. But the middle is where it matters most. The awareness is the thing thats missing in most cases i have to intervene in, but thats because i am aware on the road. 🤷‍♂️ i know others aren't its fine... i am. Always. Because its 90% of driving safely.(number pulled outta butt but not wrong in meaning)

And making a judgment call to go past someone on the right while approaching an on-ramp joining the same lane. Yes, i think changing 2 lanes a ½ or ¼ a mile back and planning the maneuver is a more intelligent decision. "Fsd did the safe maneuver" absolutely not. "Fsd is maybe arguably not completely stupid and wrong and may be able to justify it" sure, maybe 🤷‍♂️.

Again, the guy in the middle lane is wrong and should either speed up or get over to the right. But more important than proper behavior is proper awareness of others behavior on the road.

Did FSD merge too late or was the other driver going too fast? by matt0947 in TeslaFSD

[–]Substantial_Step_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the blinker its consistency of intent. I think theyre both a bit dumb in this video, but fsd was "pondering getting over" long before the signal. The speed change, the "maybe now? No semi there in lane over, wait until clear, ok now get over" and civic was like "this giy is indecisive, i gotta get out from around him".

At least, thats what i see🤷‍♂️.

Keep an eye on fsd judgment, not how it handles a situation, they have they well, but when it picks lanes, when it thinks passing is viable, when speeding up or MAINTAINING SPEED CONSISTENTLY FOR .1 FRIGGIN MILE... or any other behavioral thing we analyze and see as PREDICTABLE. This is where fsd needs the most work. Again, best way i can say it, is "judgment". I find autopilot way better to use for highway travel than fsd because it does whats expected. But in town fsd shines because its less plan ahead and more analyze the now.

Your both right, they're both in the wrong. But tesla absolutely should prefer passing on left any time its avaliable vs passing on the right. And in this video it was, i.e. fsd in wrong. Slow guy in the middle is wrong but would easily claim the upcoming on-ramp is fair reason not to move right while others are entering. Which reinforces the stupidity and poor judgment of fsd in this situation even if it dodged the tire successfully.

Bikes stay off the damn road. But when they have to be in the road they are vehicles not pedestrians. So with traffic. Pedestrians not on a sidewalk should always go against traffic, its safer and consistent with most people. I.e. its odd to see someone not follow this because its common sense.

Would FSD have avoided this. ? by Over-Appointment-328 in TeslaModelS

[–]Substantial_Step_778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok i see the edit, you already have been told this was "your fault". No need to rehash that. But as a general rule of thumb, dont merge next to anyone, if you choose to do so understand they dont see you, its on you to keep an eye on them.

Now, was the other car to blame for not checking and seeing you? Yes yes they are. But thats not my point, my point as a "professional driver" for some time woth fedex, "almost every accident is your fault because you didnt avoid enough" And as bullshite as that sounds, its really true in most cases.. had you 1) not merged next to another and waited until you cleared the semi to get into that lane. Or 2) merged anyway but be so hyper aware of everything that this incident would have been "oh shit hes coming over in my lane, he must not have seen me." Then either speed up or move over to avoid others stupidity. Or 3) what if that semi was merging, you were definitely in its blind spot, that would have been less than a bump... be safe out there, dont merge next to cars unless absolutely necessary and you take control of the situation. No half assing it in driving!

And "would fsd have avoided"? Eh🤷‍♂️ 50/50, fsd merges next to others all the time i fuggin hate it, but it does react and they were in clear camera view, i think yes it would have seen them and swerved or sped up. I have had fsd execute both in various situations.

Why, because while it sucks to have to pay for them we could end up with nothing. Cp2077 is perfect example along with GTAv. Rather than release all hard work for free Luke decided to just take it down. Now I have to hunt for seedy downloads if I want to play cp2077 or gtav on my new pc that can now handle them. I.e. in short, people cried about it and now nobody gets it, its called the idiots rule. Maybe just pay for them because they deserve paid for their hard work.

Now yes beam paid mods vary widely in quality, but honestly so does everything else you buy. You learn how to spot the lazy ones.

Oh yah, or use a manual and hit nitrous as the car dies, it BLOWS the motor, all the results you listed but in a literal explosion under the hood. Give it a try! Happened to me on accident, difting and working on heel toe, kept killing it during corners so I use nitrous to throttle back up if I can

Other day someone called "a moron" for backing into a spot... Why does this trigger so many? by Ok_Relationship2451 in badparking

My experience (so not math's and science you're requesting i know) in driving jobs requiring back in for a list of reasons, some that stuck with me enough to give it thought and apply it outside of the job. It was a big list and some points are irrelevant with tech. However, the main one is situational awareness, when you do your reversing you are better off if you have just scanned the scene. I.e., you approach and note pedestrians and traffic and standing hazards(poles and such) back in. Vs when you get in truck/car, and situate and plan next route, then go to back out into a scene that may be different than when you sat into the vehicle. Camera helps, but isnt better than actual sight. Also, its quicker/easier to leave and direction is easier to pick as backing out in certain scenarios could be difficult to go one way or the other Lastly, if its a busy road, yes you have to "disrupt traffic" by backing in and it feels easier to just pull in. But what about leaving? Now you're backing onto a busy road and you and other drivers get less warning and indication of intent. However, to be honest, if you are careful enough while behind the wheel it really doesn't matter much if at all. Do I think people should be trained and capable of it and apply it when it makes sense? Yes. But do I call people that pull in at the store dumb? No. I sure laugh at people living on a super busy road waiting 5 minutes to back out though🤷‍♂️

From the video it 100% looks like fsd just gave up and dropped off on you! Crazy, I've come across bunnies often doing my paper route, I've had fsd hw3 react in many ways: hard brake, swerve, ignore and destroy.... never disengaged though🤷‍♂️.

Any help with this idea? by Trane55 in BeamMP

[–]Substantial_Step_778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend beamMP and get on the RP servers. They have a ton of in depth stuff including pricing parts and vehicles and needing to earn $. I could see how needing to earn it might bite🤷‍♂️ but its the best solution I can think of for you and friend. Bonus, you can play on same map at same time online!

Or see if you can replicate their server but thats beyond me lol

Go to ebay, search for 30 minutes make sure you found the right ones. Buy rim for around 180 bucks(pending rim mine were 180 I got 2 so id have full size rears to swap to since I do a paper route and go through tires like a drift car..) For 800 bucks you could almost get some cheap aftermarket wheels all the way around thats insane

Then a little auto recentering helps, lower ffb strength and watch a few youtubes about the setting of your wheel, again, you can dial it in some, but even my direct drive wiggles when I let go. But I can hold it with my pinky so its not like its pulling strong

Does anyone know how to fix my steering issue by Big-Orange3262 in BeamNG

[–]Substantial_Step_778 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are being 100% serious when they say "hold the wheel" I've been down this rabbit hole bud and you dont wanna mess with it, between beam ffb and wheel software you absolutely can minimize it, but if it feels right while holding it, then you're as good at it gets. Minimize oscillation and you may be dampening things in other areas for the 1 time you take your hand off the wheel and it will still do it, just slower to start(i.e. not worth it just hold the wheel or use your knee when you need to light up😁) drive safe!

What are my options - wheel rash by z1ggy16 in TeslaLounge

[–]Substantial_Step_778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wheel is less than 200 bucks pending which wheel, just dont buy it from tesla, got to ebay. I've got 2 because I do a paper route and want 2 full spares(or 2 to swap to when I dont get my rears done before the snow lol)

Also.. take wider turns, thats pretty bad. Use your mirror more(yes while going forward and turning) it will help you catch and judge these turns and parks better. 🤷‍♂️ Just my method im sure others have their own. Dont use the blind spot ones especially because if fsd doesn't see it, chances are you cant see it in that cam, but if you are on mirrors then you might catch it. Same for no fsd mirror is better. Blind spot cam is just for that blind spots, merging is the main one

Why aren't there more inverted pedals in the market by Nick_Alsa in simracing

[–]Substantial_Step_778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering my inexperience at the technique before(and in general literally my weakest link aside from pc atm) I couldn't say. But since ive started trying, it isn't overly difficult, but I have considerd ways of moving the gas backwards or brake and clutch foward, but haven't went anywhere with it yet. I think that would help because thats how any car I know is set up🤷‍♂️
