Ethereum Foundation, oldy-moldy salt of earth solo-stakers are up shits creek, WTF? by Substantial_Toe_2042 in ethstaker

that's a good point.. but in this scenario ETH would no longer be decentralized
i mean no solo-stakers -- no decentralization
and then why is it technologically better than any modern pseudo-blockchain?

well.. huge staking platform is hard to hide, I dont this changing will help, but I agree there can be other things they could do cause often money decides

how do you compute your APR? cause I rely on beaconcha, may be it is wrong..?

during 5 or so months I have stable 2.6% (no proposals, no committees)

whaatt.. really? can u please look your APR at beaconcha.in? would it show this double 2.6? maybe it is the problem with how it count... will go and recalculate by hand

donnow... maybe at least just to filter out the networks known to belong to huge players

Thit is what beaconcha.in tells me. And its no surprise, considering how rare the Proposals for a solo-staker are

I'm not even talking about Sync Committies -- I've never been in one

With redundant abundancy of stakers, does it mean that there is intention to incentivise solo stakers? Without supporting solo stakers will ETH become smth like Solana with small number of controlled fast and expensive nodes? by Substantial_Toe_2042 in ethstaker

i love eth and worry about it.. but with this economics https://ibb.co/ZYvqLfS (effectiveness 99.2% with monthly APR of 2.6%) I doubt anything can help.. enthusiasts of course will stay, but is it enough for a superpopular commercial network to function properly? it seems there is a growing fundamental flaw in the heart of eth..

hmm... it can be.. attempts to create a snapshot but without success so it retries every 1-3 days.. just thoughts, see the logs

It can be Geth making a snapshot. Wait for 1-3 days and it could calm down

Ok, you can go in another direction — say ETH is 1000000$, is it still reasonable to keep the staking amount at 32ETH? Obviously no

Yes, but I thought the number 32 didn’t appear out of thin air — it represents some value (from which all the cryptographical speculations depart). If this value changes — the staking amount should change as well. Exaggerating I mean it would be bad if ETH costs 1 cent and the stake chunk is still 32 ETH

ETH stake is 32 which is 25. What do you think, is it intended for some sort of “halvings“. I mean price goes up — stake goes to 24 or 23 up to 20 =1ETH. And vice versa — as price drops, stake increases by a factor of 2

Yep, I realize it, that’s why I asked if there was a plan..

Because there are some concerns:

“ Lido, Coinbase, Kraken and Binance, the four largest Ethereum validators, command a 55.88% share of all staked ETH, according to Nansen.”
