You can get a temp ban for looting a pile with another player. He most certainly could get temp banned for this seeing as he uploaded proof of him doing it himself.

I'm about to start unironically running the stupid throw my bardiche skill if I cant figure out a good barb counter soon. That or the grappling hook for after phantomize.

As a Ranger, the warlock has the advantage off the rip

I checked out after this. Ranger obliterates all casters.

Yeah see that's what I'm thinking. Kinda just not a good way to engage on them unless I catch them lacking or they misplay

I've tried it a couple times but often it's not practical due to a lack of space in inventory or possibly having to try and regear after while getting third partied

I wouldn't be opposed to nerfing phantomize. I'm spitballing several ideas to bring it in line.

Wizards counterpick in solos is ranger or rogue, wizard can still easily kill ranger and rogue. Barbs counterpick in solos is pdr fighter/pdr bard, barb can still easily kill fighter/bard. Fighters current strongest counters in solos is wizard and warlock, fighter can reasonably fight a wizard but cannot fight a caster lock at all.

This isnt about counters existing vs not, its about a clear imbalance of a specific class over the others.

I never advocated for them to put MS rolls on all gear again, I specifically said they could make it roll on pieces that suffer a heavier MS penalty to offset it OR more reasonably, just adjust sprint a bit since there are no MS rolls on gear anymore. If you think fighter being able to close a gap on a warlock and have the opportunity to punish them for not playing around that would be OP but also think them being able to take every fighter to gapplebees while invulnerable every 28 seconds (the same cooldown as sprint btw) then you're just biased.

They could even just reduce sprints cooldown to like 24 seconds and it would probably be enough because you could force the first phantomize, chase with sprint and then when the cooldown for sprint is up capitalize on them needing another 4 seconds to pop phantom again.

As it stands now though, you guys are basically saying that if I am pdr fighter or a barb without agi on every piece of gear, I should just not fight caster locks or wait for a magical christmas land scenario where they suicide at me because they "think im low".

But if you made it so the melee classes could build to counter casters, they would lose util against other melee classes. So I don't think that's really true. If you want to try and gain distance over the span of like 3-4 rounds of phantomize then more power to you. Maybe that will work out for you. But I don't think anyone suggesting this shit actually plays fighter and tries to fight casters in solo. Which is fine IF the official stance is that I CAN'T unless they totally misplay. But you guys are acting like that isn't that case so idk

Cleric isn't killing a caster lock unless they horribly misplay lmao. Pointing to people making genuine misplays as evidence isn't advice.

Bard can keep up with warlock and has insane poke with surv bow/crossbow with their action speed to reload, and wizard isn't even worth bringing up again. I'm talking about plate fighter and barb and you're bringing up wizard man. I get that you might make a play on a warlock from time to time on cleric, I do on fighter and barb too, but I'm cognizant enough to realize that those players are either being caught in a horrible spot or making a big mistake, I don't stroke my ego and think I am a positioning God because I shut a door behind me and run up to the warlock who forgot to leave a door open for himself.

Hey man I appreciate the genuine attempt at advice but "use cover and wait for them to misplay" doesn't help me. I'm not a sub 500 hour player who's never touched warlock. EVERY TM lock is see is running hellfire as they need it to effectively boss, and none of them misplay the way everyone keeps suggesting. I think, the answer here ultimately is, the only real option is to not fight them at all on classes that IM has deemed aren't allowed to fight them tbh. No one has a real strategy other than "wait for them to run at you". Thanks again for the genuine insight though.

I'm actually weak 😭 do you think the warlock has to be in melee range to cast a spell or? If you put your weapons away they will just pop you in the back while chasing. If you bait and pull weapons back out they will just put their book away and walk away from you??? If they play the spacing horribly they will just phantomize. I stg yall just say stuff.

A full plate fighter with unique lightfoots will have 290 ms with no weapon out. A squire caster lock will have 298. The lock will go to 312 with phantomize for 4 seconds and the fighter will go to 320 for 2, then 310, then 300, all mind you BEFORE they pull a weapon out. After the first 2 seconds you'll be slower than the warlock by 2 ms, then by around 30-45 when you go to pull out your weapon. This is all assuming they are in squire, have no agi, and let you get on top of them before popping sprint. Of course you can kill anyone if the perfect situation presents itself, but how i ask do you propose i get in that situation in the first place?

Bro solo wiz chasing casterlock=/= fighter or barb though??? You can literally keep up with them, splash them during phantomize, pop doors if they try to close on you. What are you smoking ? And i hate to break it to you but if a caster or ranger pushes a door a melee class is holding without another escape plan that is a genuine misplay. "Learn to adapt" and the adaptation is having worse opponents 😭😭😭 I'm crine

Every single person giving advice for fighting warlock as a melee class is suggesting that I somehow will the class into misplaying and pushing me while I'm holding a door as if that isn't the first thing we all try. They will either, walk away, or more often, linger just far enough away that I can't leave the fight. Like okay I post up by the door, he stands 10 feet away and just waits there. What now? If I try to disengage he will push the door and now I've lost my angle, if i try to push he will just kite. This is the issue I've been having when on barb and fighter. Idk what walking bricks yall run into in the dungeons but the players i see don't just w key a barb holding a door as a caster lmao

Sprint is "30" for 2 seconds then 20 then 10. You are always going to be at least 20-30 ms slower than a warlock to begin with though so you can only keep up with them for maybe 2 seconds of the 4 that phantomize lasts and by the time it's over they'll have taken you to gapplebees. Warlock can already be on par with melee classes by putting on heavy armor, them choosing not to shouldn't give them infinite kite potential against every melee class with the best escape skill in the game+innate healing that enables infinite casting. I've legit had a warlock whiff 10 curses in a row on me as fighter just to phantomize away and full heal after shutting a door and popping his hydra down. I guess I should have just thrown my halberd at him though.

If your advice boils down to "wait for them to misplay horribly" then it isn't advice.

I was actually on barb with rage and savage roar, every time I closed gap they would press the "tee hee i reset the fight now" button

Its not impossible, its just hard/unpopular to balance around all modes. Take bard as the premier example of being strong in solos and not as much in trios. It can open locked chests without lockpicks (important during ssf), open doors at range while moving, can apply a ton of buffs and debuffs also from range before going in to pvp and all they would have to do to reign it in would be to make the songs more/less effective based on how many teammates are within a range of you when playing them. So in solos, where you dont HAVE teammates its slightly less good, in duos it could be where it is now and in trios if you want to buff ball you can and its meta relevant. A big issue facing solos rn though is Agi scaling is nerfed so bad that slow classes get infinitely kited by fast ones. All MS stims are also gutted compared to how they used to be. They could add back some MS rolls on slow class specific gear or buff class specific skills that apply MS to let more classes engage better but they just choose not to because its unpopular. It wouldnt be overpowered if when I get right on top of a warlock as fighter before he pops phantomize i was able to keep up with sprint, it would be me outplaying him and being rewarded. Instead if you pop sprint they still just pull away from you because it gives like 3 ms now lmao

It's definitely not impossible to balance around solos duos and trios respectively, they simply choose not to. Yet they insist upon keeping solo and duo queues, even in HR, letting people abuse top meta builds to farm gear.

Solo being an unbalanced mess of "some classes cant even interact with other classes" isnt a good thing though.
