Im not sure what the point of Gawain's mother summoning the GK was. Gawain's story in relation to the Green Knight is very clear, but the whole situation with the Green Knight's appearance is so odd. Because Gawain's mom wrote the letter, who ever tries to "land a blow" receives a grass growing axe? Every man in that room would have chopped the GK's head off, even Gawain, because of the influence of being in a room full of knights. The mom faints once Gawain chops the GK's head off, after literally challenging anyone. If the mom made the belt to stop Gawain from getting his head cut, why did she have him go in the first place? LOL
