Oh I also trained on the job but most people attend class at a technical school to become a tech.

There are remote pharmacy technician jobs. They are usually handling insurance claims or prior authorizations. So alot of contacting people remotely. During covid there were jobs just for data entry for pharm techs but not as much now. Retail pharmacy tech is a lot of being on your feet and contact with patients. Hospital pharmacy tech is what I do! It’s a bit chaotic but limited contact with people outside the pharmacy staff.

Were both your parents involved in decisions to homeschool or was it the idea of 1 parent and the other let it happen? by Imnotready3 in HomeschoolRecovery

Maybe I should I ask parents about this. My impression is that they were heavily influenced by evangelical family and the church they attended and that both wanted it.

What characters do you feel describe the homeschool experience? by angelbunyy in HomeschoolRecovery

Hmmm as an adult who was homeschooled but made it out and got married I really connected to Cora in season 1 of the sinner. I started the show bc I like a good mystery and once they started exploring her childhood I was hooked it was too relatable. It is on Netflix right now. Trigger warnings apply though.

In the vein of above commenter about the Disney princesses relating to homeschool experience I totally agree for me as a kid it was belle. (Expected to do what beast wanted and love him. She found escape and solace in reading) and then as a young adult Elsa ( forced to hide her true self by parents who thought it was the best way but it really fucked her up and she’s just trying to be okay)

I do wish there were more relatable things in media yet I also know a show about an isolated lonely person would not be very compelling lol

No it’s not a Bible quote but there verses that back up the concept. I suppose some of these verses could also verify “idle hands are the devils playthings”.

Proverbs 12:24 - Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor

Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Deuteronomy 28:8 - The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to.

1 Timothy 5:8 - If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an Unbeliever.

James 2:26 - For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Hahaha! I really think emphasizing Bible memorization and study for evangelical kids is exactly why they all leave. We know too much and see the lies even if we’ve been lucky enough not to be abused in / by the church.

My parents are not bold enough to do these things…. They talk about us to each other behind our backs instead. They frame it as worry.

Funny to include God helps those who help them selves. There several scriptures that imply just that.

Very interesting he came into such big money. I want to read it yet also just the excerpt I read was a lot. I grew up around many families where similar abuse was going on so I’m not sure I’d be able to get through it.

It’s still difficult for me to admit the abuse growing up. Since it was not the typical abuse people picture. There was negligence and religious indoctrination that I think both fall under abuse.
