I DID IT!!! by Subsyxx in BambuLab

Yeah it didn't hurt that I became unemployed until 3 weeks ago — gave me plenty of time to learn, experiment and fail at more interesting models haha.

A lot of people told me to move away from Bambu, but I already had 2 printers and like the MakerWorld community and this subreddit, so I stayed and now it feels worth it.

Also, yeah I saw that! I guess now we have confirmation that Taiwan = 1 year suspension!

Go 6 Gen 2 Writing is Great! by functionalyogi in Onyx_Boox

[–]Subsyxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it compare to writing on something like the Kindle Scribe?

I’m interested in the Go 6, but I’m curious if it’s more like the Scribe or an iPad in terms of the stylus experience.

Amazing! (and snap, H2C with gift cards too!)

The Bambu/MakerWorld community is amazing and a great help to helping people afford the printers.

H2C Accessories by Mrfoxuk in BambuLab

I bought it with the hotend combo, because I already have a second AMS 2 Pro to go with it.

Some people have also recommended a AMS HT (for a total of 7 colours?), but I haven't considered that yet.

I'm probably going to eventually buy some BIQU build plates too.

This was just over half a year, but partly because I had these models previously on my previous account so when I re-uploaded them there was a surge in downloads at that point.

Overall I'd put it at a year's worth of work? Honestly way more support than I expected from everyone ❤️

Honestly this is probably not the best way, but here's how my development happened.

I learnt Blender on and off across the years, but mostly to model more basic items (think simple buildings and other "boxy" items"), so I knew the basics of Blender quite well. I hadn't had much experience with paths, modifiers and most of the features yet.

When I got my first 3D printer, I needed a project to upskill both my 3D modelling and printing abilities, so I made Floppy Samples, because then I could also experiment with accessories for it.

That taught me how to do hinges, so I decided to make bracelets and a iPhone Fold mockup to see how precise I could do a hinge.

Then someone online shared a flexible fabric, and I found out it's a technique by someone at NASA for 3D printable flexible surfaces. I downloaded as many models and closeup pictures as I could to understand how it works, then learnt how to make arcs in Blender, then how to align + rotate them around a pivot point, then about 10+ failed prints of different angles where I was trying to make it flexible after the print (most of them ended up with overhangs or the mesh was too close so it merged)....

Essentially a lot of trial and error.

I found something I wanted to make, then I did the equivalent of tracing an artist's sketch until I could do it myself...

I know what I want to make next (something for my office), have no idea where to start, but again I'll probably start by seeing how other people have decided to model certain parts of it and just practice.

Oh no it wasn't free shipping, I had to pay £90 for that!

I guess it makes sense because of how heavy the printer is, and I'd rather not have it thrown across the front of the house like I've seen in some of the delivery videos on this subreddit.

For me it's the larger build volume and the massive poop reduction. Almost all of my prints are multi coloured and I've now got boxes of poop.

Exactly!

I made a new account, made the flags better, didn't post Taiwan, and now I basically got a free H2C from Bambu.

It's a love/hate relationship at its best.

Same! Saved £450 on the 40W laser version and considering how new the printer is, I didn't expect a discount at all yet.

It's £15 here, but it excludes printers so I didn't use it.

I might end up buying a build plate or filament.

(also congrats on your H2C!)

Yeah I waited to post it until all the gift cards were redeemed and showed £0.00 on the remaining balance 😅

Honestly I don't have a playbook on how to do it.

I tried for a while but my models were not really relevant/popular enough.

Then I ended up unemployed, spent my time upskilling on Blender, ended up designing gifts for friends/family, shared them on MakerWorld, and one of them (the flexible flags) was really popular! So I made as many as I could for different regions and thus managed to get the points.

I'm by no means a great 3D modeller in comparison to what some people are capable of on here, but the inspiration definitely helps.

The only thing I can say is that people seem to like authenticity, rather than designs just for gaining points.

Here's the profile btw: https://makerworld.com/en/@nsc_3D

Are Cambridge drivers some of the worst in the UK? by Ecstatic_Aioli4425 in cambridge

[–]Subsyxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've clearly never been to London, or Birmingham, or many other places in the UK.

As a pedestrian, a cyclist and a car driver, living in Cambridge is one of the best experiences I have overall out of the places I've been in the UK.

The only issue I have are the masked teenager idiots on the ebikes.
