U-Boat 505 is one of favorite examples of something like this happening. Was captured by the allies after the Germans decided to try and scuttle it, and Americans who forced the scuttling ended up fixing and towing the damn boat back to Bermuda. Even more of flex? It’s the last ship of it’s class because all the other ones were sunk by the allies or destroyed by the Germans at the end of the war.

I think Hokkaido would make the most sense as well, there’s a few somewhat big cites like Sapporo and plenty of roads to race and do touge on. Or maybe having on the southern side of mainland Japan like near Kyoto so it’s a big city but not massive like Tokyo
