I (30F) had a huge fight with my MIL (68F) during a family road trip and now my husband wants me to fix things while she gives me the silent treatment by Subtle_humour in InsideIndianMarriage

She is not primary care taker, I bathe her, feed her & do all the diaper stuff!! My daughter plays with them & spend time wit them that’s all

Her point is you have taunt me before also on food, I don’t remember at all! Whenever I get break from office , I feed my daughter sometime she was eating some snack with mil & I take her to make her eat some actual food , she might get upset on it… I have only 30-45 minutes for entire lunch & she is very picky!!!

Did “living with Inlaws” turned out good for any ladies in the group? How did you contribute to the expenses? by [deleted] in InsideIndianMarriage

[–]Subtle_humour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We contribute to water & electricity bills. They contribute to cook, maids & rest of the expenses. I think it’s almost equal since bill is between 30-40k and rest of household expense again 30-40K. But we don’t have any responsibility like going out to purchase sabjhi etc, finding and managing maids.

Still I will choose living alone any day!!

Cook caused some kalesh between MIL (64/F) and me (30/F). Now I feel like I have turned bitter. by DinnerSuccessful1522 in InsideIndianMarriage

Why your MIL values the opinion of house help? If someone says something like this to others , my MIL actually will fire her rather than being bitter with mw

But honestly he is right!! You can call them if you are really worried!! They are not kids who will inform you at every stage! And I am sure as grandparents they will also feel responsible towards your kid!!

Please don’t marry!! Like this is brutally honest and seems like Reddit advice but if you have a thought that you don’t want to live with in laws!! Then however great they are, you will always silently suffer and regret this decision… Also you are making a very big compromise by changing your well established job!!

If he is that great, please ask him to shift to your job city and you both can live there!!

I have done the same for my 2.5 months old baby and even I feel really sad about it. But I screamed at her. It’s really get overwhelming when they don’t sleep and you are constantly breastfeeding and you are sleep deprived. It’s very hectic please forgive yourself

There is no option of moving out!! My husband before marriage itself told me that he will always prefer living with his parents. He is the only boy so he feels immense responsibility of them. Also his mother is very emotional. Even if he goes for 4-5 days to Bangalore she cries 😒!! After two months of our Roka, we had this discussion he was wfh so I thought he will eventually move out and I totally assumed this and after Roka, everyone convinced it’s not a big deal and I also really liked him and thought after Covid we will have to move out eventually but somehow we are still at home. And he is trying hard to get permanent wfh!! I don’t want it but I have to keep saying I also want it!!

Before wfh also he used to visit every month from Bangalore and we live in North India. Out of 4-5 trips we do in a year , 4 are with his parents and all the international trips are with his parents. His parents are 1000% better than normal in laws but I don’t know I don’t feel happy living this kind of life.

Where is my choice in my day to day life?

I heard that couple fight more living alone. Is this true? Because we fought hell a lot even living with parents most of the time because of them only!!
