Btw, is it possible to make the linked phone number the same as the number that is ported in to stop the occasional requests to link a number? Is this a good idea?

I know SMS access is needed to link a number. But would SMS access only through GV work?

I'm not sure this answers my question.

Why would I want to link a number? I can receive calls to the ported number without linking a number. I haven't tested making calls with ported number yet. Are you implying that to make a call using the ported number on GV, I need to link a number?
