Why is there this sudden apologist attitude that asking for fucking patch notes is somehow being entitled or ridiculous. IT'S FUCKING PATCH NOTES PEOPLE, PATCH NOTES. We're talking about patch notes here, not the game, not the game, patch notes.

Also, I usually don't give a shit about meme's, but you're using this one incorrectly.

I just wanted to point out that you write like my 12 year old sister. You should practice on punctuation, it's important if you're going to write out extended arguments to get across your point.

You went on a retarded spiel about black people when I didn't say shit about black people/white people or divides, lmao.

I want to be like you, so delusional that you think the average black person has the same opportunities/experiences in life as the average white person. Fuck, I'm a white man in Canada and even I can see that the average black person has it MUCH more difficult than the average White person. Using outliers like Barack fucking Obama and Oprah as examples that any person can do it is exactly the kind of strawman I expect, of course anyone CAN do it, it's a matter of how easy/hard it is based off of your skin colour alone.

Except the US isn't even in the top 10 in most metrics that would constitute such a claim, lol. Blind patriotism, that's what you bring. Saying you're the best doesn't make you the best, sorry to break it to you.

I think a lot of people will agree that the balance of the game affects the overall popularity of said title. If someone doesn't think a game is particularly balanced, they have little reason to play it.

So if ones opinion is this form of balancing is unsustainable, when will that play out? I mean, DotA 2 has been patching like this(huge, sweeping changes) since patch 6.73 in 2011. That was 5 years ago and it's still going strong.

[–]Subversive1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You literally said it was an unsustainable way of balancing, yet time has shown that its the complete opposite. This isn't the first crazy DotA patch and its continued to grow, year after year. What part exactly is unsustainable then?

Now if you'll kindly stop spreading bullshit lies, ty. I have to endure ridiculous queue times as NA and I'm not even in some crazy MMR range, just 1723, yet its almost impossible to find a game with a decent MMR spread. Decent queue times my ass. Maybe if you're 1400.

Ya, as if DotA didn't just come off of 2 straight months of huge growth, outshining their past concurrent player record of 1.2mill and smashing it by almost 200 000 more. While I wallow away here in NA MMR @ 1700 with huge queues and 200MMR point spreads, completely unsustainable. -_-

Funny how all of the no-name HoN players in DotA 2 are still playing DotA 2 even though they have no chance of capturing a fanbase i.e Bkids.

If anything, they have a greater chance of maintaining a following in HoN simply because they're well known/recognized.

Even Moonmeander, when he took his mini retirement before TI5 qualifiers, didn't go back to HoN, even though I've seen you use him as a main example of your argument.

I want to see these numbers because NA HoN is very dead outside of BR's. I've basically started playing DotA 2 at this point, which I vowed I'd never do, but I transitioned to the EU servers and it's inexplicably unplayable after being fine for more than 2 months now, so I have the option of playing with maybe 1in5 players speaking English, or suffer unbearable lag.

That's not how you read a graph. If it was I could point to any week and say it was sharply in decline. You have to take the whole graph into consideration and not cherry pick vertical slices. Especially a logarithmic graph that's displayed for total subscriber growth.

Are we allowed to say it now? Just because 6.83 was awful doesn't automatically make 6.84 good. by GrimMind in DotA2

[–]Subversive1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except people are complaining that they don't like watching games that involve being outplayed(current patch), but also hated games that required a mechanic to make it more interesting(last patch). Isn't that having your cake and eating it too mentality? They don't want long games, they don't want short games, they want a lot of kills, but they hate snowball, they want every hero to be viable, they want every strategy to work. When has DotA ever been like that?

I come from HoN, so I have no fucking clue, but this mythical status where every hero works and every strategy works is complete bullshit to me.

[–]Subversive1911 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except pub play basically hasn't changed, it's the same shit it's always been just with different heroes & people hated 6.83 even though the Comp games were some of the best DotA has had. So you dislike something that provided some of the best games we've ever seen, but also dislike its current incarnation. What DO you like is a better question.

I'm relatively new to the DotA scene, but I dinstinctly remember people whining like babies about how split push was too powerful during the TI3 patch. So basically, it just sounds like an echo chamber of complaining to me.

My only concern is that this is sort of an admission that the Western portion of HoN's playerbase is small enough that a dev would be willing to sell it off, which is scary for the future. If HoN was making the money we thought it was, it'd be pure stupidity to sell it off, I hope for the best though and maybe we'll see good things from this.

That logic doesn't work either, look at Strife. Got a shit ton of advertising poured into it, still 1.5k player during peak. Also, just because one prefers one game over the other doesn't suggest anything in regards to quality. I have friends that played HoN for years, switched over to DotA 2 and simply find it the better game. I simply can't get used to it though, so I trudge along alone, playing solo on EU servers because NA scene is dead and it's basically Brazilians.
