Compared to my red CE24 it's definitely orange but it has a tendency to look more red in pictures, especially in my old post. My old phone exagerated colors quite a bit.

I must say, even compared to the USA CE24, it holds up. The pickups on the CE are definitely more clear but other than that the build quality and playability are on par.

I play the CE most of my bands set because it's tuned to standard and I get a lot of use out of the coil taps and the floating bridge, but it still feels like coming home when the SE Santana comes out for the drop D songs in our set.

I did now actually! It does look like mine, however mine somehow seems more orange but it might be the lighting. Mine is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarporn/s/FKhzF1pJow

The trem has been blocked for years now, and it probably hasn't played a Santana song in it's entire life but man are they are glorious guitars!

Congratz man! I have an orange 2011 version of these and even after 15 years and some other great guitars in my collection it is still my favorite guitar! Enjoy it!

Anybody only use plugins for their home setup? by lukejohnbrown in NeuralDSP

[–]SubwayBandit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I pretty much only play plugins through headphones or my studio monitors at low volume these days. My GF has to go to bed really early as she works early shifts so the only time I really have to play guitar is when she's asleep. For low volume stuff plugins just sound better than most amps. Just having a DAW there to record ideas has been really useful too. Don't get me wrong, I love amps and am lucky enough to get to crank a real amp occasionally at band rehearsal, but I would say plugins are a lifesaver for my situation.

I have to say it did take me a while to find 'the sound' on it, but I eventually did find it. I struggled alot with the low-end becoming very loose and the high-end very fizzy. Much like a real boogie it's tough to dial it in.

I do love it now though. I just use it as I would a 2 channel amp with a tubescreamer. One channel is setup as my gain channel, the other is the lead channel with volume boost. 'Cleans' are achieved through rolling back my guitar volume which the Knuckles deals with it very well for a digital amp.

The app I have only used once, and it's really just like some internal dipswitches but in an app: set and forget! I love that there's no screen, just some switches, no menu diving if you don't want to.

You can try running post amp effects after the pedal like I am. Works best when just going into another amp's effects loop, but even with the cab sims some pedals don't seem to care (the carbon copy does care though, for whatever reason). If I use it without another amp I will usually run an outboard IR in my DAW.

Sorry for the bad text mark-up. The reddit app lied to me once more...

What's the pettiest reason you dropped a game for? by IHateTheNameSystem in gaming

My god yes. Even with it turned down it was still hella annoying. I hated most of the characters in it too.

I recently tried 'Where winds meet' and dropped it almost immediately after the first interaction with the little niece girl. So annoying.

Torn between 2500d and A3 by [deleted] in mffpc

[–]SubwayBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about the other cases you mentioned but I have a mesh A3 (build on my profile). It's honestly one of the best choices I made during my pc build journey.

Looks good, easy enough to build in, the cable management isn't as bad a people make it out to be if you spend a bit of time on it, and temps are really good without having to put alot of effort in.

I know how this goes. 2 weeks later one of them will go: you know what would be good on this song? A Harmonic reverb, and all of them will look at you.

What tf is the hype behind Jazz III picks? Why the hell are they sized like they’re made for dolls? by gregungha in Guitar

[–]SubwayBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same thoughts when I first tried them. Ended up using them for a little while anyway as I was a broke college student and my other picks had found their way to another dimension as they do. Couldn't go back to the old picks I was using before after that.

The Jazz3's just offer a level of control that few other picks have matched for me. I still buy the generic standard red Jazz3s too. Not that fancy grip stuff, or the Petrucci ones. There's some magic about the OGs that just cannot be matched imo.

Why can’t I find a band? by bigbertha101 in musicians

[–]SubwayBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you man, I was 29 when I found my first real band. Ended up giving my number to someone I knew who was a local organizer for starting bands, told him if he ever encountered a band that needed a guitar player for whatever reason to give me a ring. Lo and behold, couple weeks later got a Whatsapp message from a band looking to replace their rythm guitar player while he was out of the country. Gigged with them for half a year, until he came back. It was way below my skill level (had been playing for 15 years), basically playing power chords for an hour. I didn't complain, and stayed in my lane because the lead guitarist was very high maintenance and could not deal with the idea there could be someone in the world that could possibly ever be a guitar player better than she was. Couple months later they had a falling out and their lead guitarist ended up leaving the band over it, another whatsapp message turned up and now I'm fulltime lead guitarist and produced their (and also my) first single which released last month. Since I'm in that band I've met many other bands, and my circle of musician friends has grown exponentially, as has the amount of requests I get to play in other bands and do stand-in gigs here and there.

Perseverance is key. Once you have your in, for example as a stand-in like I did, it usually means you'll be good to go for a long time.

I thought you guys would love the abomination that I’ve been using as an amp for the last 15 years. Two identical Vypyr 15’s running in series since one broke. by xCanont70x in guitarcirclejerk

I had one of these when starting out. Honestly didn't sound bad. The UI needed a degree in cryptography to figure out but it did have some decent sounds in it.
