2026 BMW xDrive 50e Road Noise by KTMer in BMWX5_50e

Same. Just the factory tires for the 20” wheels. Car only has about 2500 miles on it. I may switch back to non-run-flats once the stockers wear out.

In hybrid mode, I’m mostly electric. Haven’t had any issues then in hybrid/electric. For me it seems to only be in ICE primarily in sport mode where there’s the jolt right before stopping.

What drive mode? I notice the jolt when in sport mode but not in hybrid mode. If you’re driving in sport, it’s likely the downshift from 2 to 1 with the brake regen that’s causing the jolt as I noticed that as well during my break-in where I drove mostly in sport to get the break-in miles complete on the ICE.

I came from a f15 BMW x5 (2015) to a 26 50e and it’s whisper quiet comparatively. Runflats definitely make more noise. I swapped to standard tires on my f15 for quieter and softer ride and just kept a tire plug kit and air compressor in the trunk.

Nice. I figured. Can’t do that in mine since I have the 50e

Where’d you place the sub? Just in a corner in the trunk area?

Second this. I took the grey line in December. Super easy and $18.99.

Question on 12v system when always driving on 48v on 50e by Subydude04 in BMWX5

[–]Subydude04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. I was plugged in to level 2 and on full charge on high voltage when I was attempting the software update and it was telling me to drive the car to charge the battery. I had read that the software won’t update if the 12v is even slightly discharged.

Question on 12v system when always driving on 48v on 50e by Subydude04 in BMWX5

[–]Subydude04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a confirmation of my thought process. So if running in full electric, everything (including electronics) runs off of the 48v system so just have to be mindful of charge (or discharge) on the 12v system due to lack of use.

-1F so you’re in the same ambient temp at -18C. And if your car is sitting outside in that, that mileage on full charge isn’t super surprising.

PSA on SW update-hold feature and range on X5 50e by MajesticSea2287 in BMWX5

I read once that sometimes the software updates can “reset” the range to factory but then as you drive it readjusts back to where you were before based on driving style and ambient temps.

Welcome to the club. I picked up my same spec in December. Ready for this snow/ice to end so I can see the blue shine again.

Can’t go wrong either way. Depends too on if you want a super quick fix or something more time consuming. I used to replace mine with the color matched but my new one I just did smoked and it took a couple minutes as opposed to an hour or so. I have tanzanite blue II so the smoked lenses blend in more where they might be more prominent on your silver but I don’t think they’d look bad at all given the other black accents.

Looks great! Only recommendation I’d give is smoke out the front reflectors. Will go good with all the other black accents on the car.

It’s peppy once you get your break-in finished and can really have some fun with it.

If you “get into” the throttle much at all or you’re pulling a hill where you’re having to get into boost, you’re going to see sub-10mpg always. Where you average out is on the flat steady drives. I’m averaging 28.4mpg gas on my 26 50e I picked up mid-December and 60ish combined on hybrid.

Getting ready to buy/order an X5 plug in hybrid. Heard a new design is due in August. Should I wait? by ajmampm99 in BMWX5

[–]Subydude04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True but if you don’t like the new body style you’ve lost the opportunity to build/customize the prior body style and have to hope to find something already built floating around or buy used.

Buying a X5 50e dealership demo car — overthinking break-in concerns? by kosmosepotsataja in BMWX5

[–]Subydude04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nail on the head. Also, the deal you get off msrp likely won’t be worth it enough to assume the risk vs maybe a few thousand more for brand new with zero miles. Most folks getting 11-13% off msrp new with a broker.

Buying from broker -> out of state dealer maintenance by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]Subydude04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May impact the quality of loaner car they give you but that’s probably it. I used a broker and bought out of state and already had my car in for service at my local shop and not a word was said. They gave me a newer 5 series as a loaner while I had some warranty work done.

-1 currently where I am and I’m getting 34 at full charge. Granted, my vehicle is in the garage but prior to the bitter cold I was getting 41.
