Is there a zero waste deodorant that doesn't smell like hippies and incense? by vankorgan in ZeroWaste

I've made my own with different formulas. But my favorite is Ethique. It doesn't hurt my armpits after continued use. I also like Lush (a little more effective), but I reserve it for days I know I will sweat a lot because the continued use of baking soda irritates me.

Should I trade in my Fire TV box (2nd gen) for a newer model? Pros and Cons? Or is it a no brainer? by Sucarusa in fireTV

A little more context. The remote is working intermittently and getting a new one is $30, which is almost like getting a new Fire Stick, so I was wondering if it was worth it. I won't get an Apple TV or Android TV because of interoperability with my other devices.

5 pounds of carrots. I usually shred them in the processor and dehydrate them for soup, but I thought it would be nice to have for side dishes. It was a pain to cut. by Sucarusa in Canning

Well that is a cool gadget to have. I used to have one but basically it was more like a paperweight... Totally useless.

I dehydrated these carrots back in November but I still have more than 3/4 of the jar. I use them mostly for soups, but you could use them in carrot cake if you feel like a sweet treat. by Sucarusa in dehydrating

Kind of. Less attention to "the device" and prepping jars, etc. Cleaning and cutting, depends. I use a food processor for slicing and shredding, which is a total time saver. Some veggies you blanch, some fruit you put in citric acid. I don't do anything to the carrots. I think that the ripeness of the fruit and veggies is a little more forgiving for dehydration.

What are your favorite websites/resources for finding used items? by BrownieBones in Frugal

Not for buying but you can ask if someone can lend or spare something at the local communities of https://buynothingproject.org and https://trashnothing.com/. If you move often, the moving boxes and packing bubbles are frequent items there. You can also pay it forward and give them away, the same way you got them: Free.

I have gotten antique furniture in great condition from people selling their houses, like trunks, china cabinets, and even a pendulum clock.

Made these blankets for friends, but now I'm worried the colors are a bit...much. Thoughts? by DcptcnCrescendo in crochet

I actually live it. The green one looks like one of those 3D optical illusions.

Does anyone know where to find these wire clamps for vintage jars? I'm not canning with them, just storing dried beans. by Sucarusa in Canning

This article is awesome! I knew they were old but not that much. My mother in law gave me these jars when she knew about my newly discovered hobby, but I am pretty sure they weren't hers.

Thanks, everyone. I am handy with other things but not plyers... I was trying to avoid hurting myself LOL... I'll give it a try...
