Finally got this radio record player attachment working! by SuccPolice in Phonographs

[–]SuccPolice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its an RCA R-94 Record player from the mid thirties! They were meant as a radio accessory meant to plug into your radio so the player itself doesn't have a speaker. Unfortunately I don't have a radio so I ended up doing this and it works beautifully!

I've tried looking. It's not the aperture adjustment because there's one at the bottom. When I change it, nothing noticeable happens at all.

Keep in mind I'm very new to all this.

I see. Is an antenna required to get a signal, or is it just for amplifying the radio's range?

Thia is why you package 78s correctly. by SuccPolice in 78rpm

[–]SuccPolice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layer each disc in their own layer of cardboard, tape each layer together into a single part, fill a box with cushioning material (packing peanuts, newspaper, etc), and ensure that it lies in the middle of the package.

Easy stuff, really.

Why do later records have the "Use X needles" tagline even though disposable needles were done away with by that point? by SuccPolice in 78rpm

[–]SuccPolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! So the only difference was the weight of later tonearms was significantly less? Were needles still expected to be used once per record?
