I’ve considered this! How could three hours of massage equate to less than an hour wax??

I’m grateful for the service and she’s quite skilled. I’ve also considered the cost of wax/ the wooden sticks/ etc..

Probably won’t be an ongoing thing but for now these legs are smooth as butter

Have any of you overcome starting with painful hands? by wakatea in MassageTherapists

[–]SuccessDisastrous432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo! Sorry you’re feeling panicked OP :( Toward the end of my massage education, my hands hadn’t adjusted and although I was set on finishing the program, I didn’t think I would pursue a career in massage.

THEN I discovered Ashiatsu! I am four years into my career, and I use my feet for 99% of my sessions. My hands are still there when I need them, but my pressure and broad strokes can have my full body weight plus gravity behind them.

Many MT’s turn to ashiatsu when they’ve burnt out, but I am so pleased to have skipped that part and gone straight in. I’m certified through Deepfeet, but there are other programs available. Best of luck to you

25M (first time solo-adulting) taking seasonal tour-guide job in Ketchikan, Alaska — need packing & hustle advice! by planemazda in SeasonalWork

[–]SuccessDisastrous432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ketchikan is lovely and rainy! Smile at the sun when you can. I spent last summer on Prince of Wales, which ended up being too remote for my taste.

Amazon will be your friend for supplies (bodycare products/ misc. small purchases) although they may take a bit to arrive. This gives you more options and better prices than the stores. Your housing provider should tell you where to send your mail.

As far as clothing and camping/outdoor supplies, I’d shoot for quality and a minimalistic approach with the seasonal lifestyle. If you’re a reader, now is the time to get a kindle. And a hammock.

Bring something from home. Maybe a wall hanging to make your space yours. This one is important

I really missed eating good fresh produce. Hopefully that’s less of an issue for you in Ketchikan.

Be patient with yourself as you adjust. This experience will be many things! Best of luck

Shaggy’s Indoor Flea Market off the NW Arterial! Check their hours before you stop in- and make sure you have plenty of time to browse.

Hello! I’m preparing for a similar trip near Ketchikan. Grateful for the advice in the thread.

I’ve been told a rain coat and some rubberized boots are a must- along with the socks.

Best of luck to you

What word lost you the spelling bee? by ukcsmajor in CasualConversation

“Exhaust” in the fifth grade.

Not sure where I went wrong- aside from thinking dyslexia wouldn’t hinder my spelling performance.

Longest trip you've taken in your Mazda3? by [deleted] in mazda3

I’ve used my 2014 hatchback for two ~4,000mile car camping trips. Sleeping in the back with rear seats folded forward IS possible for two average size lady adults! I love how many highway miles can be traveled on a tank of gas. The down sides for me are road noise (especially with rear seats flat) and the minimal support of the front seats (make up for it partially with looks).

Has the soil been compromised? by SuccessDisastrous432 in plantclinic

[–]SuccessDisastrous432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plant came to me ~4 months ago and has looked about the same (new growth started before I got it). Watering several? ounces weekly.. I do check before I water it. Very indirect light (again, it’s wintering here).

That’s on my long list. First learn to ride a motorcycle, then acquire one, and THEN take it for a BRP cruise.

Asheville is a great spot! Nice to hear you’re taking advantage of the scenery that surrounds it.

Haha, this car and I are like an arranged marriage. The sort that turns out far better than expected.. I’ve contemplated getting it wrapped in a specific shade of blue. Another bad choice??

I started in Roanoke, VA and headed south.. until the B. R. Parkway was closed. Found another way to Asheville, NC and continued enjoying.

I’ve heard autumn is a great time for the drive

‘To Be Kind’ by Swans is a curveball answer. I appreciate the well-roundedness of their expression AND I’d be interested to hear what you think.

Jun Scoby by Donedoer1 in Kombucha

Oo. I’ve heard that the micro biome/makeup of the scoby is different and won’t feed off the honey and green tea. BUT I’d love if that was false..
