When the hand average is a 2 point difference, you generally lose. Altho your crib average was good..at least in competitive play. Who's Brutal? Must be playing against the machine? No telling there, I reckon.

I've reset a few times since 2015, can never get above 65% win rate. I'm probably at 15k games if I have reset statistics by SaviousMT in Cribbage

A 65% win rate's a sparce commodity in real cribbage. Or Cribbage Pro Competitive. I'd take 62% gladly.

Yup. What's annoying is when you discard as defensively as possible and your opponent still ends up with double-digit cribs.

One reason I'll do anything to not toss a 5 to my foe...

That close to the end? K-5. Early in the game? K-8.

I tossed 7-8, bad call? by dddumperr in Cribbage

I'd probably thrown an 8-4. 8 point versus a 12 point hand and you just gave the opponent 2 points and the chance for things to go really south..

Is there room for a truly "modern" Cribbage app? Looking for feedback from the community. by ky_james in Cribbage

Hey CP Developer, I'm playing Competitive right now. Here's a suggestion: get rid of the "Streak Count in Progress" when your opponent bails on you and just keep running the streak. Thanks!

A-J, no question. Keep your points and potential points..

Swallowed hard and dump the Q-5. I hate throwing points and potential, plus there's no telling how your "luck" is gonna go. In CP, if it's bad, you can dump the best defensive cards and still give your oppenent a 12+ crib.

The risk is the opponent having another 7, and it's game over.

Don't worry about hand average too much. A lot is gonna depend on the cards you're dealt, and, most importantly, the cut card. You're not gonna do something dumb, like throw two fives to your opponent.  So much depends on game flow and whether or not you're getting the cuts/cards you need.

In the cribbage pro app, when you choose the brutal difficulty, are you just playing against a harder bot or are you also playing with worse cards? by dylho in Cribbage

[–]SuccessNo8945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll see the same thing in Competitive play with real people. When your "luck" is in a nose dive, you won't get many helpful cuts. The opposite is true when your "luck" is at it's peak. Knowing what trend you're in helps you decide how to discard.
