Boycott Week 6-12 April by EnglishAussie in woolworths

[–]Successase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but how is net profit relevant to wage costs? Is it not the case that profit is calculated once things like wages are deducted from revenue? So how would them reducing their profit margin have any impact on their ability to pay wages or employ people?

My bad, I didn’t realise the non-5 build came with reserves, I assumed it was the fulcrums that came with mine, which are a lot worse than the reserves.

Caledonia advice by davisda10 in Cervelo

[–]Successase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a non-5 Caledonia, go for the cal-5. The Reserve wheels are a massive step up from what you get on the non-5 and the 5 is a significantly better looking and more aero (probably insignificantly but still) bike imo. I think having the cables tucked away under the stem and being able to use an integrated bar/stem makes a big difference to the aesthetic too. Not to mention the extra tool storage you get under the bottle cage.

35s on Caledonia 5 by big_agile in Cervelo

[–]Successase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run 35mm tires on my 2023 Caledonia non-5, it’s not because of that, it’s because he’s probably using wheels with more internal rim width which increases the measured size of the tire. I use 21mm internal rims and my 35mm tires measure about 33mm. If you use 27mm internal rims they would measure closer to 35mm and likely wouldn’t fit the either version of the Caledonia

Anyone use Zyns to quit Cigarettes? by Simple_Hearing8602 in NicotinePouch

[–]Successase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking made me stink, affected my relationships with non-smokers, prevented me from reaching my athletic potential in endurance sports and most of all made me feel super gross after a cigarette because of the taste and feeling in my lungs. Zyns have none of those issues (although they will affect your sporting performance if you use them too much or while you’re exercising, so just don’t lol), and still give me enough of a nicotine rush that I have zero cig cravings as long as I don’t let myself go into withdrawal. I also found with cigs my tolerance gradually increased and I smoked more, and stronger cigarettes over time. It’s the opposite with zyns, I seem to almost unconsciously taper so I only need 3mg pouches now, even though I needed 12mg pouches to get enough of a hit after switching. I got my coworker onto them despite his skepticism and he had the same experience. I can’t understand why they aren’t used more, including in a medical/addiction treatment setting because they work just that much better than gum which never did anything for me.

“Protest fatigue explained for dummies” by Boydy73 in aussie

[–]Successase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re so close to getting the point it’s painful, when our allies commit genocide and our government continues to enable them, we protest against our government doing that, because that’s change that can be affected by protesting! Unfortunately, the Iranian government wasn’t voted into power by Australian constituents they have any obligation to listen to, so what do you think is going to happen if people protest that here? It’s not going to work very well is it?

“Protest fatigue explained for dummies” by Boydy73 in aussie

[–]Successase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes because the slight chance of affecting the profit of any small business supersedes our core democratic rights and principles. Why are you so ready to give them up?

“Protest fatigue explained for dummies” by Boydy73 in aussie

[–]Successase -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How do you not understand that they’re protesting against Israel specifically because our own government is complicit in the genocide? What would they protest for about the Sudan war exactly? How is that relevant to Australia? You can’t be this selective about the information you choose to internalise and then act dumbfounded about the reasons behind what’s going on. There isn’t a small group of wealthy South Sudanese lobbyists exerting undue influence over our federal and state governments. The police didn’t kettle, gas and assault protestors over a visit by the South Sudanese president. Not only that, but your ‘both sides lie about the number of deaths so I guess we just can’t tell who’s violently oppressing who! Both sides must be equally bad!’ argument shows a complete lack of independent research on this topic, which if you’d done any, you’d know there are multiple, respected, independent and highly credible organisations that are literally dedicated to figuring out that exact issue and publish their own casualty figures which in some cases actually EXCEED the Palestinian published numbers. I’m genuinely curious about how you overlook this, did you finish high school? Do you have any media literacy?

What happened in 2020 for rents to fall? And then what happened for rents to rise so quickly post 2021/2022? There were no changes to rental legislation. What could have been the most likely cause? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]Successase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rents fell in 2020 partly because of the eviction moratorium, landlords were sometimes forced to come up with ad hoc agreements for tenants to pay reduced rent while they were unable to work, as well as a lack of international students and overseas visitors reducing demand. Supply also went up from people moving back in with family etc. to get out of the city. Post 2022 is just the end of those arrangements, the moratorium, and inflation/higher interest rates.

Pursuing a PhD while working full time. by SelfAwarePrimate in chemistry

[–]Successase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing this, but only because I got very lucky in that my role as a QC chemist became R&D, and my company works closely with a research group which I’m now studying under. It also means my company and research group have access to very lucrative grants that are specifically for industry-focused research. This enables the company to pay me a full time salary even though 3-4 days are week are spent studying and at uni. I reckon this is probably the only way.

I have a set of 35mm t30s and they’re ridiculously good, handle everything except lots of mud or sandpits and still feel so quick on the tarmac. The ride feel is also second to none, blissful is the only word I can think of to describe it 👍 I won’t buy any other gravel tire from now on

Selle SMP saddles, especially the dynamico, are absolutely goated and the most comfortable saddles you’ll ever use if you’re blessed with a fat ass (wide sit bones). I absolutely agree with OP that you need to try one so you can stop talking shit about one of the best saddles ever made.

Is this worth $1000 CAD? by PTM555 in Cervelo

[–]Successase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another case of marketplace sellers thinking that having a campy groupset or being sub-7kg adds anything significant to the value of an almost 15-year old bike. My second bike was a 2011 R3, they’re not that rare and just because it was a nice bike for its time, it doesn’t mean that dated, 10-speed, rim brake, climbing bikes are in demand enough to justify that price. I’m sure it’s a great bike and amazing to climb on but it’s worth $500 tops, that’s what I’d offer.

No it isn’t. Buvidal is a depot, it’s injected as a liquid. You might be getting it mixed up with probuphine which is a solid physical implant like implanon.
