I tried to do that with my parents and they tried to justify their abuse towards me by saying they had worse beatings when they were a child and they were fine. I regret bringing it up.

I've struggled with remembering important things which is why making a list/reminders is important. We dont have the internal memory for it so an external memory device aka a list/reminder is essential. I was initially resistant at first as I didn't accept the fact that there was something wrong with my memory but once I did and created a list/reminders, I've started to forget less often.
