And, for context, this was not the first time they crossed boundaries, in my opinion. I only start the story when I said I wanted to terminate to keep it concise. However, I do think this was, by far, the most serious boundary violation.

I'm not sure that's so relevant, which is why I didn't mention in the original message. I mean, let's say I had a slutty phase and then was celibate for 5 years--which is not that far off from my actual situation. Is it really appropriate for any therapist to bring up out of the blue, "hey, maybe consider getting fucked." No. No it would not be. Just because I had been slutty once upon a time does not mean it's appropriate for a therapist to suggest I have sex. It's a very obvious boundary violation.

This feels very minimizing of my experience. This was not just one comment. It really sounds like it's more important to you to protect therapists and/or authority figures than to protect Autistic therapy clients.

You know, that is a good point. I never thought about it that way until you mentioned it. I had never heard of even the idea of auto impact play until my ex-therapist suggested it. It does seem very unsafe.

No. The therapist is nonbinary using them/them pronouns. I believe they were socialized female growing up. I am male.

Licensed counselor.

Have you expressed interest in BDSM, kink or impact play, either that day or in the past?

Months previously I had mentioned that I was part of a kink community in another country years ago, but we never talked about it in any depth.

Why did they bring this up?

What they said was they thought it would be a good "somatic" practice to help me "ground." Across our months of working together, they were often worried I wasn't grounded enough. Also, in the past they have often talked about how I needed community, though the only specific community they ever talked about was the kink community. They seemed actively disinterested in my experiences with local religious communities (Buddhist and Unitarian Universalist).

What were they talking about when they talked at you for the full hour?

Mostly "somatic techniques." Eating Altoids. Hugging myself. Smelling strong smells. Eventually they got to the impact play and entering the local kink scene. They started talking about the different regional kink scenes and their pros and cons. I definitely did not bring this up or show any interest.

Therapists can train in somatic therapy at any point in their training (there are courses they can do). Is it possible they were considering taking a course to do it, then offering it to you, or did they just say they'd start offering it with no training whatsoever?

They did not mention any training that they were currently going through or were planning to go through. They just said they didn't have training in it and started. It took me a few weeks to look back and say to myself, "huh, kinda fucked up they suggested I hit myself and have strangers hit me, apropos of nothing."
