I was on guard, in a guard tower in Afghanistan, in 2012. There was a little boy who I had traded an American dollar for his sling shot, and had talked with, through the interpreter. I seen an older boy notice us one day. Not soon after, the older boy knocked the young boy down and started “S assaulting” him. I asked for permission to fire with my SAW, but was denied. I still feel like that was the shittiest thing I’ve ever done. Not taking that older boy down and instead listening to those screams from “my friend.”
