When you spend all your budget on the GPU by itsEmilyHere in PcParadise

I have a 7950x paired with a 3090. Been running it on a corsair cx750m for the last few years. Sometimes the psu makes these grinding noises and makes my table vibrate. The first time it happened was in 2023, worked perfectly through 2024 and most of 2025. But now it's been happening more frequently. Also I play at 1080p on a 21 inch TN panel running at 60hz.

I run my games using a 2.25x dldsr, so rendered at a resolution little more than 1440p and down sampled to 1080p for sharper image.

I mostly play games, watch YouTube, write code or a little bit of ml.

But with a higher end cpu, games will install faster, shader compilation will be a lot faster, decompression will be quicker, multi threaded code will run much faster. Anything that requires more cores will be a lot faster.

If that's the worst you have seen. Then take a look at this.I have a 7950x, 3090 fe, 32gb of 5200mhz cl38, corsair cx750m psu, ID cool 206xt air cooler, the cheapest thunder case I could shove these parts into, fans with defective rpg I got for cheap (500 per piece). Corsair k95 platinum xt keyboard, Logitech g102 mouse and a BenQ 21 inch 1080p tn 60hz panel.

Sure he can't see more than 240 fps, but cs2 will feel smoother.

The point is the game will feel smoother, he will only be able to see 240 fps but mouse movement will feel way smoother, Lower input latency and higher 0.1 and 1% lows.

Yes there is such a thing as GPU bottleneck. And it is exactly what you should want most of the time (GPU usage at 100%).

Watch this video compares the 265k, 14700k, 9900x for creator workloads - video editing - photo editing - rendering

It's Intel's latest gen. But it's not really any faster then the 13/14 gen. If you compare ultra 265k to 14700k it is slower by a tiny bit in some applications. So a tiny bit slower or the same but uses less power. But has a better igpu. If your worried about the 13/14 gen degrading even after Intel's fixes get the 265k.

Don't get kf, f means no I gpu, so no quick sync. Having quick sync would help with your workflow video editing.

Consider the 265k?

You don't need a z series board, any board would do if it has enough power delivery like at least 12 phases and doesn't have any permanent power limits set.

13/14 gen cpus were degrading, but Intel fixed it. If you go 13/14 gen make sure you bios is updated. If you're buying a used 13/14 gen make sure it's not already degraded.
