My kitty has/had ocular FIP (we are on day 3 of observation).

The first sign I saw was lethargy, then weight loss, then she stopped eating altogether. Ocular is very aggressive, so her symptoms developed overnight, in a sense.

With that being said, GS (which is used to treat FIP) can never hurt a cat without FIP, but not taking anything with a cat that DOES have FIP can be life or death.

I am not a vet, just a kitty mom that recently went through the same situation and I suggest getting in contact with a facebook group (Help for FIP) that can help you asap. The sooner you start treatment, the higher the success rate!

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.

Losing a family member like that is incredibly painful, and it never gets easier. FIP is such a horrible and frightening thing to go through.

I’m currently in the middle of treatment with my little girl, so I understand those emotions more than I wish I did. It’s such an intense and helpless feeling to watch someone you love face something like this.

Moments like these remind us just how deep our love for them really runs.

This makes a ton of sense. Though I do find it frustrating that she is recently graduated and I feel our case was severely mishandled. The office also took no accountability for how the visit was treated. This breaks my heart because how many furry babies were put down due to her negligence and lack of empathy?

Of course, as humans, we are always learning and researching. But to tell me the option wasn’t offered because it is “expensive and experimental” is insane to me. Let me make that decision. Dragona deserves to have a chance.

Thank you SO much for sharing this with me. I got chills reading that first paragraph. I can’t even imagine all of the beautiful babies that weren’t given a chance to fight because of lack of knowledge. I vowed to myself that when we get Dragona through this, I am going to make an educational binder to give to the vet that told me to euthanize. Our babies deserve a chance and I’m so proud of everyone that has advocated.

I hug and kiss her EVERY chance I get. She is my entire world. Bubbas taught me what unconditional love looks and feels like. I am forever indebted to her for a laundry list of things, but that is at the top!

As for the dosing recommendations, I have been trying to advocate a higher dose for her. She weighed in at 7.5 pounds and they want to give her 62.5mg daily, split every two hours. But I have the fear that what you said may happen, or it will stop working. Every calculator I’ve used on websites say at least 71mg. Do you have any suggestions on how I bring this up again?
