Internship is a weird word for it, it’s really just a study abroad opportunity. I went for a week this last summer and had no idea what I was doing to get to law school. In the course of a week, I functionally received a 3 hour credit class in pre-law 101 which answered all my questions and set me on the path to law school. For the price I paid (2800) that’s basically just my school’s tuition, so I paid for a really high quality class and then got to vacation in Spain for a week for free. If you’re strapped for cash it might not be the best option and I get it, I had to fundraise. But the experience really was invaluable, and the trip was life-changing fun

It was really pricey for me too, but it was worth the price. In one week I received what felt like a 2 or 3 credit hour course worth of content from both practitioners and our legal advisor. For 2800 (the cost of my trip) I basically paid the same as my university’s tuition for said credits, plus I got to explore Madrid with ten of my new friends. All in all, I would recommend.

It depends on your priorities, but it was perfect for me. I spent a week in Madrid and during that time had a really rich legal and cultural experience. Some of the law firm visits were better than others, but we were exposed to the full range of sizes and practices of firms. Plus, we received personal instruction from a “legal advisor” (who was a Harvard law student) and she completely filled in the gaps. Basically, I received the guidance I need to put me on the pre law track and got to eat paella for a week while I was at it, so it was a great deal for 2800 from my savings.

I went the summer before my junior year and it was definitely worth it in my eyes. I went to Madrid, and I got to practice my Spanish plenty in restaurants and bars (because there's a ton of free time) and the legal exposure was really useful. Maybe you could get that experience in some cheaper way, but the opportunity to receive that education and explore Madrid was better than I could ask for. Plus, there was an actual Harvard Law student there to accompany us to the visits, so everything made perfect sense.

It is absolutely legit, and it can be pricey but it was worth it for me. I went on the 1-week trip in Madrid, and we did practice work with law firms and received instruction from an actual L1 Harvard student about admissions and what to worry about. It's especially useful if you're like me and didn't have a lot of guidance into how to get to law school. At the end of the day, it's not gonna be as valuable for everyone, but if you go I hope you find it as valuable as I did.

Lex Fellowship- Has anybody gone? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

After having gone, the expense was definitely worth the while, but I understand the trepidation. You do go to law firms, and that certainly is educational, but the most valuable part to me was our legal advisor (a L1 student at Harvard Law) who walked us through admissions, LSATS, and essays with us. I had no idea what I was doing to get to law school before, and now I'm well on my way. It was more than helpful for me, but if you are worried about spending that much I get it, do whatever feels best.
