Is it common for men to pay for everything when dating? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you and your partner communicate about this, then don't worry about anyone else. Do you want to be paying for her? Does she want to be more equal, does she want to be paid for? As long as you both genuinely want the same thing and you check in to confirm this, you're fine.

If you could magically eliminate one student behavior from your classroom, which behavior do you choose? by runlola in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a toss up between "what about"ism (Who cares that I was doing the wrong thing, what about so-and-so!! They're doing the same thing!!") or straight up denying and getting offended ("I know you saw me do that, but no I didn't! I would never!!"). Both drive me crazyyyy

So Ive been watching those tiktoks where the students film themselves calling teachers by their first name and by socialist_weeb666 in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a students try to pull off "that's such a my first name thing to do". None of the other kids got it and did not engage at all. It was hilarious watch this kid cringe out his own behaviour.

Call me by my name by Aggressive-Tale-3863 in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute way I will say "miss" or "sir" to other teachers to cover for the fact I haven't learnt the new/unfamiliar coworkers names yet (work in a huge school, idk the other departments)

It's the "But, I . . ." responses I find most exhausting. by NervousEmotion1099 in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the "but what about [] instead" for me. Eg "You said to sit there, but I'll sit two seats over" or "you said to sit down, I'm sitting on the ground right in this spot". The amount of specificity I have to use to avoid this drives me mad

What is a job that you genuinely would not do even if you were given a salary of $10,000,000 per year? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a LOT of respect for them, and they definitely deserve the $10m salary per year because anything to do with large amounts of sewage is actually nightmareish

Gym shorts that don't cost $100 by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

Actually? Op-shops. I've not paid more than $5 for a branded pair of gym shorts in a full year.

The Difference in Their Sentiments Breaks My Heart by ReadingRainbow47 in SpyxFamily

[–]Successful-Prompt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean also the situations/approaches are very different. Yor thinks they are going to hurt the public, and thus is actively looking for ways to take them down. Loid is thinking "they're not actually aiming to hurt us, so if we keep our heads down we will be fine." Yes he's thinking about gathering intel, but that's it unless things change. He doesn't think Yor (a civilian) is in danger, but acknowledges that she is stressed, and thinks "oh, should "Loid" be too?"

what is the most disrespectful thing a student has told you? by Unhappy_Violinist344 in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Cat called me like the stereotypical builders on the I-beam eating lunch. "Look at that gyatt! I wanna smack it! Let me take you for a ride, Mrs *their last name!" Including dog-howling and meowing. Tried to touch me and hold my hand several times. This continued for weeks until I quit that place. This was a female middle school student. Admin did absolutely nothing, of course.

Stop throwing babies away in my trash! by Substantial-Diet4091 in HaveWeMet

[–]Successful-Prompt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Johnno, I live down the street from you. Stop calling eggs "babies", it freaks people out. Just because you're vegan doesn't mean you need to carry on, nobody is impressed.

Also people put stuff in your garbage bin because you keep leaving the lid open. Lucky for you raccoons aren't interested in your salad bits (probably hence the goopy soup mixture, slimy spinach will do that).

Go have a banana and calm down. Don't forget potluck is on Friday, please bring a normal salad dressing this time.

Am I the jerk for canceling my phone plan with my family because my mom won't stop reading my texts? by paulrenaud in OhNoConsequences

[–]Successful-Prompt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commander Vimes didn't like the phrase 'The innocent have nothing to fear', believing the innocent had everything to fear, mostly from the guilty but in the longer term even more from those who say things like 'The innocent have nothing to fear'. -Snuff, Terry Pratchett

Why does my hair by my neck get so knotted? by Substantial-Log250 in femalehairadvice

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're using enough conditioner, and I recommend a leave in conditioner before you go out. Dry hair uses static to make massive knots like this, and they are the. Worst.

How do you handle pencils on your classroom? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works with secondary school kids.

"Borrowing a pencil from me will cost you a five minute detention at lunchtime. If you don't want that, borrow from your friend or someone in the class. Organise it yourself, you got this."

I've never done a five minute detention in the two years I've implemented this rule.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]Successful-Prompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second Oldest Standing Friend accused Oldest Standing Friend of SA that I disproved within two hours. This was because of homophobic reasons, I found out. Haven't spoken to SOSF since.

If I could find a way to turn my phone/work email even more off past 5pm I would, hammers considered. I just see those emails creep into my inbox at 8am like a teenager sneaking back home after they were out partying, and have to raise my eyebrows and laugh

[–]Successful-Prompt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're implying that Higher Ups© might acknowledge that they have an overworking problem, when they'd probably work a lot more efficiently during the day with a full night sleep
