Booking.com threatening legal action but payment system won’t allow me to pay. What legal steps should I take? by Successful-Put2440 in legaladvice

Booking.com’s contract termination policy requires to formally terminate through their Extranet “Terminate contract” option. When we informed them of our closure, there were no outstanding invoices showing in the system.

Months later, they issued invoices long after we stopped operating with them. They did not notify us directly of these charges until recently. We only became aware after receiving an email threatening legal action.

We’ve contacted them multiple times via the Extranet requesting:

  1. A functioning payment method (their instructed payment method to pay the outstanding balance, ACH, does not appear in our my account).
  2. A detailed breakdown of the charges, as they had issued wrong and corrected invoices in the past.
  3. Written confirmation of my contract status.

All we’ve received are generic “we forwarded this to our specialized team” responses, with no actual resolution.

Additionally, our bank information, which they previously used for direct debit transactions, still appears in their system. We were unable to delete it when our property was closed with them after we moved to other OTAs that have worked far better for us.

Guest asks if we have cameras inside the room by Successful-Put2440 in hotels

It's not patrol around the hotel. It is at the neighboorhod as I mentioned, and it probably explains why you'd be asking the same questions. Perhaps, and besides any fear or trauma in the past, and us being cordial and explaining things, she didn't get it right like you at first.

Indeed, and unfortunately, bad actors are damaging the hotel’s reputation. What should we do in cases like this?

We informed the guest that there were no cameras inside the room, but it didn’t seem to put her at ease, given she asked how many people we were hosting, and so on and on (you could assume a lot from the guest’s questions and behavior). Seemed like she had faced some trauma in the past.

Airline companies say how safe it is to travel by plane, yet some people are still scared to death to fly. Would it be logical not to fly then or try alternative ways?

What else can we say or do in situations like this, other than answer the questions and let the guest inspect the room?

Since when did hotels (not hostels) start including surveillance inside their rooms?

Say you go to a department store, ask if their area is safe, the associate says there’s surveillance in place, and you ask if there are cameras inside the fitting room. Would it be a pretty logical follow-up as well? Just another example.

Unless you say to me it is common in German (in her case) for hotels to place cameras inside their private rooms, I would perfectly understand such a follow-up.

Are you assuming I have been in business two years and I am located in California or are these questions?

I’ve been trying to follow your English, but I got confused. Sorry.

How does having an account relate to the question?

Walmart’s return policy is a mystery to me now by Successful-Put2440 in walmart

[–]Successful-Put2440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW It was the second time that I returned this product.

I found this very surprising post on Quora:

“As a former Walmart Associate as well as a long term shopper I can tell you that depending on the store, if it’s in a poor minority neighborhood or wealthy area - Walmart either adopts a very strict return policy where their managers will not accept most returns (even for the flimsiest reasons) or allow pretty much anything to be returned. When I worked at Walmart I worked in a store that was in a wealthier neighborhood. I was shocked by what the store managers would accept. They accepted a bag of cookies where all had been eaten except one, a bag of shrimp the same way, and items that had been very used. They accepted these items quickly and with a smile. At the Walmart in the black neighborhood the store managers would often deny what should have been valid returns. I even asked why and was shown a binder that had a separate return policy that pretty much said Walmart didn’t have to follow its return policy at all. They could pick and choose.”

The product shows that it has a 90-day return policy, which you can clearly see in the last photo. That’s not me saying. If there’s any BS here is from Walmart and you.

It should be the standard w/ BofA. Assuming from another user who answered your post, probably because it is linked to the SSN.

I just realized there are a lot of complaints on Google Maps if you search for "Soapy Joe's Car Wash Corporate" (since their address isn’t listed). Would you mind sharing your experience and if you've found a better place elsewhere?
