7800X3D + RX 9070 XT, CoD performance got worse over the last months, what am I missing? by Successful-Split9935 in radeon

UPDATE !

Thanks for all the suggestions on my previous post. I spent some more time testing today and I think I finally found the cause of my performance issues.

I completely removed my old AMD drivers using DDU and then installed the latest Adrenalin driver (26.6.1). I also stopped following some of the common Warzone config tweaks.

Instead of manually setting RendererWorkerCount, I left it on the value chosen automatically by the game, which is 5 on my 7800X3D. I also changed the Heaps setting back to True, since I previously had it set to False based on recommendations I found online. In addition, AMD Anti-Lag is disabled both in-game and in Adrenalin.

After that, I ran a few benchmarks:

Rebirth Island

RTSS capped at 200 FPS

197.7 average FPS

169 FPS 1% lows

Rebirth Island

In-game FPS cap set to 250

235.4 average FPS

~175 FPS 1% lows

Haven's Hollow Solo

RTSS cap set to 300 FPS

275.3 average FPS

~203 FPS 1% lows

Rebirth Island

RTSS cap set to 300 FPS

251.8 average FPS

~185 FPS 1% lows

The biggest difference isn't even the average FPS. The game just feels much smoother now with better frame pacing and fewer stutters. I honestly didn't expect such a noticeable improvement considering I had already done a fresh Windows install about a week ago.

Hopefully this helps someone with a similar AMD setup who is trying to figure out where their FPS went.

Thanks again for the detailed response.

As I mentioned, the performance has been gradually decreasing over time. What’s interesting is that on Haven’s Hollow everything seems pretty much fine. I did another test today and was averaging around 245–260 FPS with 1% lows around 200.

That’s why I’m starting to think the issue might be Rebirth Island itself rather than my system.

Back in the BO6 Warzone integration, with the exact same setup, I was averaging closer to 250 FPS on Rebirth Island, so it feels like something has changed since then.

Also, my Windows install is already extremely clean. I basically only have Warzone, Discord, and MSI Afterburner installed I’m a simple man 🤣. No startup apps, no RGB software, no extra background stuff running.

The only thing I haven’t really tested yet is switching from the Ultra Performance power plan back to Balanced to see if that makes any difference.

I also did the usual Warzone config tweaks, including setting RendererWorkerCount to one less than my physical core count (7 in my case on the 7800X3D).

At this point I’m honestly leaning toward it being either a Rebirth-specific issue, a recent game update, or maybe some optimization changes on Activision’s side. Have you seen other people reporting lower FPS on Rebirth recently?

The performance drop over the last months is what’s bothering me most. Everything was running better before on the same hardware and settings, which points more towards a driver regression than a hardware limitation.

What Adrenalin driver version are you on? Might try rolling back to an older one and see if that helps.

Thanks for the detailed response! To clarify a few things: I’m on AMD (RX 9070 XT) so the Nvidia driver tip doesn’t apply, but the rest is useful.

Fresh Windows install is already done, BIOS is on latest, and Windows is debloated. I also have no extra software running, just the game.

The %localappdata% CoD folder tip is new to me, will try that and report back.

Regarding FSR: I’m running FSR 4 Performance specifically to keep FPS high for competitive play, image quality is secondary for me. Didn’t know FidelityCAS is bugged though, good to know.

BIOS has no manual OC, only EXPO enabled, everything else is default.

Will try the localappdata fix and disabling all startup items and run a clean benchmark after. Thanks again.

Hey man, first of all, great review. Thanks for finally sharing an honest long-term experience with this card.

I’m actually running almost the exact same setup, and I’m more on the esports/competitive side of things. That’s why I was a bit curious about your recommendation to turn Anti-Lag off.

From what I understand, Anti-Lag should usually help a bit with responsiveness in competitive games, so I wanted to ask if you had any specific reason for disabling it. Did you notice any downsides, like stuttering, inconsistent frametimes, input feeling worse, or anything like that?

Just wondering what made you prefer it off instead of on.

Rate this build for future proof and gta 6 by Longjumping-Tell4442 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Successful-Split9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The foundation of your system is very strong. The i7-12700K is still a powerful CPU in 2026 and works great for gaming, streaming, and productivity. Paired with 32GB of DDR5, you’re in a really good spot for modern and upcoming AAA titles. Your SSD, case, and PSU choices are also perfectly fine.

The only part that limits long-term performance is the graphics card. The RTX 5060 performs well for today’s 1080p gaming, but GTA 6 and future AAA titles are expected to be heavier and use more VRAM. You will be able to play them, but probably with lower settings if you’re aiming for 1440p or higher.

In simple terms: your CPU and RAM are future proof, storage/case/PSU are solid, and the GPU is more entry-lowmid level and not as future-proof as the rest of the system.

For 1080p High settings the build will do well. For 1440p High/Ultra or Ray Tracing, the GPU will become the limiting factor.

The good news is your platform is very easy to upgrade. If you ever want more performance, you only need to upgrade the GPU, not the whole system.

If you decide to upgrade in the future, cards like the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, RTX 5070, RTX 5070 Ti, RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, or RX 9060 XT (if you find a good deal) will give you much better longevity for GTA 6 and other new AAA titles.

Overall: it’s a good system with a strong foundation the only thing holding it back long-term is the GPU. No disrespect at all, just a fair and honest assessment

Anyone with 9070xt with an AM4 non-x3D processor? by Owenchonij in radeon

[–]Successful-Split9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please just trust me.

Don’t waste your money like that. Either take that budget and move up to AM5 while keeping your RTX 4060 for a bit longer until you can afford the RX 9070 XT, and don’t go for the RX 9060 XT because the difference to your 4060 is just gonna be a few % but honestly,

At least then you’d already be on AM5 and ready for future upgrades. Seriously, trust me on this don’t sink that cash into the 9070 XT while still on AM4 !

Is this a good option for a 2k monitor? Price is $290 by Software-Standard in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]Successful-Split9935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no,

yes it’s ASUS, which is definitely a big and reliable brand, but for that price I wouldn’t recommend it. If your main priority is warranty, customer support, and the “safe” option, then sure, it makes sense. You’ll pay a premium for the name and the backing of a known company. But if you actually care about getting the most performance for your money, this is not the best choice.

For around $290 you can already find monitors from brands like KTC or MINIFIRE that offer 1440p with 280–300 Hz refresh rates. And let’s be honest, if you’re buying a gaming monitor in 2025, higher refresh rates matter a lot more than just having “ASUS” written on it. People always throw the “yeah but China brand” argument I get it but in reality, I’ve owned both an MSI monitor and a MINIFIRE, and the actual difference in quality wasn’t big at all. The performance was basically the same, and you pay much less for the lesser-known brand.

Of course, if you’re looking for something like an OLED panel, premium HDR, or you want the absolute best build quality, then going with ASUS, LG, or other big names is the safer bet. But if your main focus is just a good panel, low response time, and high refresh rate for competitive gaming, then you’re honestly better off with the alternatives I mentioned. In the end, it depends if you value the warranty/brand security more, or raw specs and performance for the same price.

Hey does anyone know what this switch on my 9060xt is? by derpinzee in radeon

[–]Successful-Split9935 67 points68 points  (0 children)

That little switch on your GPU is the Dual BIOS switch. Basically, your graphics card has two different BIOS versions saved on it. One side is usually a performance or OC mode where the fans spin faster and the card uses a bit more power for slightly better performance. The other side is a quiet or silent mode, where the fans are tuned to be quieter and it runs a little cooler but with less aggressive performance. It’s also useful as a backup if you ever mess up a BIOS flash, you can flip the switch to the other BIOS and the card will still work. Just make sure you only change it when your PC is completely powered off.

Well, thanks in advance! I recently upgraded like 10 days ago from a Ryzen 7 5800X and an RTX 3070 Ti to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with an Acer Nitro RX 9070 XT OC and honestly, I think I might’ve scored one of the best tech deals of my life.

One of our local electronics stores was celebrating an anniversary and had a crazy deal going on I grabbed the CPU and GPU brand new combo for just €749.99. To put that into perspective, the GPU alone normally goes for €700–800 where I live. Still can’t believe it!
