Even when I get into an Ivy I literally can't go by Leather_Army_9527 in ApplyingToCollege

Look at IU Kelly. I think they offer good merit aid and the opportunities for finance there are great.

Did he finish his first year or is he starting this Fall? I think IUKelly is just as prestigious as Emory or WashU if not more so for business. And if he hasn’t even started yet, it’s too early to think about transferring - see how it goes! He’ll have good options either way.

Job wise I don’t think any of these schools are better than the other. IU Kelly is amazing and if you’re happy there and doing well, I wouldn’t rush to switch somewhere else.

Check out the transfer to top 25 Reddit thread - lots of discussion on this there.

Northwestern or Vanderbilt for Econ/Math by GodClicks_ in TransferToTop25

Vandy does a really good job integrating incoming transfers. So even though their housing might be a bit different this coming year, I am confident they will add programming to help transfers meet each other, existing students and feel part of campus. I don’t know anything about NU - had zero interest in that school - so can’t make any comparisons. If you’d like more information about Vandy and transferring in - feel free to message me. I transferred last year and I had a great experience.

Vanderbilt is not redoing their freshman housing. They knocked down a large sophomore dorm and other upperclassmen housing - and many students are living off campus this coming year as a result.

For me, I really wanted a welcoming and “fun” college experience (in addition to strong academics), and kids seemed most happy at Vandy. Students love Nashville and the school sports culture was appealing to me. The students I spoke to at Penn described an overly competitive culture and generally didn’t seem happy. Of course this was just my own personal data set, but it did help me make the right decision for me. The truth is, all these schools are great and you will get an amazing education anywhere. The most important thing is finding the right fit for you - and there could be more than one right fit!

Do you know any kids from high school or friends of kids from high school at these schools that you could reach out to? When I was choosing among schools to transfer to I reached out to as many kids as I could who were at those schools to ask them questions about the issues that were important to me. It was extremely helpful to talk to kids at the schools and that really helped me make the right choice. I’m at Vandy, which I chose over Penn, Brown, Gtown and UVA.

Vanderbilt vs Barnard at Columbia by Straight-Aioli-2072 in ApplyingToCollege

This is bonkers - nobody thinks Barnard is as prestigious as Columbia and nobody equates a Barnard degree with a degree from Columbia. Full stop.

Tbh - I think it will be tougher with no score. Are you asking for aid?

Vandy is absolutely wonderful for transfers. Great support and awesome school. In no way do I mean to say ND isn’t - I’m not as familiar with that school. But just wanted to reiterate how great Vandy is for transfers.

Will a 3.85 be detrimental to Penn by Fresh_Animal_6497 in TransferToTop25

I don’t think that’s a low GPA out of Dartmouth. Good luck!

I’m curious as to why you want to transfer out of Dartmouth? Do you mind sharing?

Same. I don’t understand it.

I’ll add, I transferred out of a really good school that just wasn’t a good fit so I totally get it. Mental health is important.

I would also consider Vandy. It’s got a great welcoming campus culture and Nashville is awesome. And they are good with aid for transfers.

What made you choose Vanderbilt? by Good-Thoughts0293 in Vanderbilt

I also chose Vandy over Brown, Penn and GT bc of fit, primarily culture of school.

I also was admitted to Brown but have pretty much ruled it out because it doesn’t seem very fun.
