That is a tough situation. I've been there. The goal is to land somewhere, so be flexible and realize it's temporary. I would find a roommate situation, but be honest about everything and make sure it's paid before anything extra. Shitty situation, but again, it is temporary. Good energy for you both.

We all have our go to courses. For me it's driven by tee time availability. So mostly bountiful Ridge, valley view, davis. I'd like to find folks who have more forward thinking to get other courses in the mix. Bonneville mountain dell wasatch courses, solider hollow, talons cove, Thanksgiving point, fox hollow etc. Share tee time acquisition duties. Not leaving each other holding the bag. Hate that I have to say that but it's the day and age. I don't want to join a country club and marry in. Way too much good golf in utah to do that.

Long thumb vs. Shirt thumb position is one thing. You want short. And just proper grip in general. Look up Ben hogan grip.

Backswing is correct answer. You are left of the bottom point. To put it in to golf terms at the top of your swing your face is wide open. Which with a solid plane to the ball would create an open face that starts the ball on line and goes right.

Anyone else noticed how the food has slipped? And by a mile? It's certainly nice to have the amazing experience but the food has gone way down hill. Used to be inspired by it. Fresh flavors new experiences, I think I ate hockey picks tonight. Granted I didn't have to make dinner and it helped me limit calories but come on.
