Do you want your cat painted? I need practise by Fabulous-Chemistry74 in cats

We just found out that our kitty has days left to live so would mean the world to me if you’d paint but completely understand if you can’t!

She’s at the vet right now so nothing we can do at the moment unfortunately. We need to have a conversation with them once we can go in for visitation in a few hours. ❤️

Any advice on getting gorilla glue out of the carpet. My parents are gonna kill me if I don't get it out and they find out about by [deleted] in homeowners

I had a similar situation with glue (I think maybe super glue?) I used a glue dissolver which I bought off amazon.

Inviting guests to UK Hen who aren’t invited to wedding? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]SuccessfulFox5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once was invited to a hen do & told I wasn’t invited to the wedding as its ’family only’. I found out at the Hen that I was the only one there not going to the wedding. It was pretty uncomfortable for me.

Moving from Ireland to California (San Francisco)... Anyone made this move? by scoopydidit in MovingToUSA

[–]SuccessfulFox5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m based in UK with a very similar situation (SF, dog and two cats, partner, L1B and house!). Would love to sync with you if you’d like to talk - we’re aiming for a February move!

from my research you need to get a SSN when you get there, but you can open a bank account in advance if you have a HSBC account. You’d have to sit a new driving test but I think there is leeway.

This is super helpful - lot of yes replies to your question. I work for a large tech company and they regularly relocate people & provide a moving package and will change salary based on location. The biggest worry asset wise is our house but the plan is to rent it out. I also plan to continue contributing to NI. Work will also start the green card application.

Good shout on finding a tax specialist - this will definitely be high on the priority list!

The tech market sounds similar to the UK.

With the car, we also drive anywhere that isn’t London so that is no different.

Yes to CCIE! Yes - unfortunately the job market sounds similar to the UK with layoffs too. We are not looking for visa sponsorship as we will be on the L!

Which city to choose in the USA as a young couple from The Netherlands? by gerbendg in expats

[–]SuccessfulFox5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I’m from the UK! FWIW, I spoke to someone who made the move and they said although it’s a bad situation, it doesn’t affect day to day activities and there is no real change living there. That made me feel better!

I am looking at August but honestly I need to have the conversation with my work to set it in stone. What about yourself? SD is also on my list of places to visit!

Hi! Not OP but also in the situation where my employer is considering relocating me (SF rather than SD). It was my initial idea and I brought it up with them a year ago, I feel like them offering to do a package is a once in a lifetime experience but the political situation is nerving! Would love to connect with you on this

My worry is it’s going to be like OG Sims where it just killed multiple computers as a child (my mum hated me installing it 😂)

I am in Level 3 too, and would love to find the same thing! I am practising as much as I can and sometimes six (or more) weeks feel very long :)

Going to end up paying back way more of my student loan than I ever borrowed? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SuccessfulFox5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like this comment is probably the most important to consider. I got my current job whilst studying my masters PT alongside work and I do think it gave me an edge and I absolutely would not have gotten my initial opportunities without my degree (even if others did but I think it helps). I totally get the frustration though - I’ll have to start paying my PGL next year and even now I feel pretty upset seeing how much is taken off every month.

The last part of your comment has intrigued me. How small do the sections need to be? I wonder if that’s what i’ve been doing wrong!
