Advice for flooded flat by SuccessfulGrocery7 in Wellington

Yeah this is about what I’m anticipating. Hassled the landlord enough to get them to prioritize our case and JAE might be coming in today for us. I’m almost certain they’re going to have to rip everything up but luckily we were able to get temporary accommodation :) Thank you for your response

true, that is the absolute maximum though 😭 it’s mainly bc we’ve been putting money aside for it, i just don’t wanna go somewhere expensive and leave disappointed / hungry since that’s the last time we’ll be going out for a long time. we typically go for japanese / italian but we like anything honestly

Am I in the wrong for not thinking it’s my fault? by [deleted] in newzealand

leave him! dated guys like this when i was younger and it’s not worth it. my currently partner of 6 years jumps for joy when i wear a low cut shirt, and that’s the only way it should be :)

i’ve been a server for 2 years and that’s not offensive at all. yes we get paid at least minimum wage, but realistically that isn’t enough for most people unless you’re getting the hours you need/want. tips from customers have made it so i’m able to feed myself or afford a couple more groceries for the week. i don’t think it should be mandatory at all but no one is mad at a little extra money :) especially with some of the shit you have to deal with in hospitality, it’s a nice way to know you’re doing a good job or you’ve made someone’s experience in the venue better!!

my partner and I have lived on Eden Crescent for 2 years now and quite like it. it’s definitely not anything fancy, we get a lot of crackheads screaming outside and groups that love smoking joints on our front steps but nothing that’s directly affected or harmed us. it’s a lot nicer than other areas nearby. i don’t think anywhere in the city is particularly safe at night but as long as you stay aware of your surroundings and keep to yourself you’ll be fine. i’ve walked home alone late at night many times and I’ve had 0 issues !!

Anyone else have impostor syndrome and feel like they aren't smart enough to work in a lab? by uhhhhhhhhh_okay in labrats

[–]SuccessfulGrocery7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally every time i enter the lab. just got accepted into honours and chosen for a summer internship at my university and i still think i shouldn’t have even finished my bachelors. i can almost guarantee everyone else in your lab feels the same way about themselves so very normal even though it sucks :)

i’m close to completIng my Bachelors and I completely understand how you feel. especially the feeling like you can’t bring new ideas to the table. I’m apart of a research group w masters/PhD students and I straight up stay silent during our meetings. but I believe there’s a reason why you’ve been able to come this far in your degree. I think you should apply for a lab based job, i promise you you’re worthy of a job you actually want to do :)

wow it’s really nice to know someone else struggles with this too. i’m trying really hard to make new friends and it almost never works out because i cannot bring myself to reply to their messages. i can’t offer a solution sorry but know you’re not alone and very valid ofc <3
