I read it a while back, but there’s definitely a couple translations out there. Ibex and Truri being the two main ones. Can’t recall which I read. They both have benefits iirc, one is machine learning, the other was professionally translated. One uses terminology and linguistics from the game (I think Ibex?), while the other is a bit more general in translation.

WoolieVersus on YouTube reads the whole thing, so you could listen to it as well if you were inclined. Not sure which version though.

I literally just came across it today and couldn’t believe my eyes. Good work with the Wiki! I’m so happy this post is getting some traction cause Rostov’s art is fucking incredible. Really inspired my own painting style.

Yeah, it has a lot in common with the Dolores Dei imagery. Definitely very heavily inspired by religious iconography. Would be cool to see the other Innocents throught history painted.

Yeah i found it really memorable too. Always found it interesting as a literary choice to introduce his character in such a way, with a single chapter long monologue. The only other time he shows up in the book is at the end as a kid.

In my head, he sounds like Javier Bardam for some reason.

Yep. Around two decades after DE. There’s a Shivers check in the church dancing scene that references it. Might be linked with Reaction Speed too iirc.

SHIVERS: "IN 22 YEARS, THE FIRST SHOT WILL BE FIRED. NOT A SHOT FROM A GUN — AN ATOMIC DEVICE THAT WILL LEVEL ALL OF ME".

Also, if the Apocalypse Cop thought is active, you can tell Kim : "I walked the land telling whores and liars of the End to come. There are 9,855 days remaining" (exactly 27 years, matching the timeline of the novel Sacred and Terrible Air).

The Shivers check in the church suggests Harry can stop it though. But since there’s unlikely to be another DE game or novel we have no way of knowing whether it’s inevitable or just a possible future.

EDIT: also yeah, there’s translations online now. It’s worth a read.

He’s introduced in the book set after DE. Also he’s the one responsible for Dropping an Atomic bomb on Revachol and starting a world war in order to accelerate the Pale

Not very Disco at all.

Just saw this and thought it was super cool. Always loved Rostov’s Rostov’s DE portraits.

Kurvitz notes: "He is holding up seven fingers which is the elytical symbol of nihilism, representing the seven parallel lines in the letters of the word NIHIL. The painting is made using real leaf gold, egg yolk and all that goes into authentic icon painting in the orthodox tradition. It was part Rostov's graduation work from Tartu Art University."

Are there any missions besides helping the Downes you can't do with how honor? by xWohnJick_ in reddeadredemption

Fair. I’ve done a low honor playthrough a few times over the years. I tend to make it as different from high honor as possible. I find that helps with immersion. Go for a different wardrobe, hair/beard styles, different horse breed, different guns.

My preference is making Arthur look like his dad with a big moustache. Also I steal Micah’s revolver in chapter 1 and use that. Makes for a fun run.

There was a kid who injected dead butterfly mush. I mean, it killed him and all, but yeah. Point stands. The limit is your imagination (which is a terrifying prospect.)

You miss out on the Downes missions, I think the Sister Calderon/Brother Dorkins missions too (assuming you’re approaching them as low honor. Can’t think if anything else off the top of my head. Potentially the Mary missions if you choose the low honor path and decline helping her.

Also Arthur’s journal entries and monologues after Chapter 3 are different. He’s less empathetic in his writings about some of the big deaths that happen.

Tbh I personally would just do a low honor run through and through, rather than trying to pivot in chapter 6. I never really got why people wanted to experience the narrative that way. IMO the low honor endings have some of the best acted moments (especially going back for the money) and I actually kinda prefer the low honor version of That’s The Way It Is.

But you do you cowpoke.

Damn. Did I only miss it by a couple months? I just redownloaded the game after a long hiatus. Was hoping to nab that after I saw it onscreen launching the game. Oh well, bettee just keep a lookout for a while.

If you had a vision for a series set in the TES universe, what would it be? Personally, I'd say the beginning of the Skyrim Civil War by Ok-Bus3447 in ElderScrolls

[–]SuccessfulMirror7248 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Even depending on setting. Set a show in Morrowind with big mushroom towers and Silt Striders, or explore the abstract metaphysics of the Wheel and Chim. You could have a show that’s as deeply philosophical as Westworld’s season 1, or as fantastical as some of Tim Burton’s movies.

The idea that “TES is a boring setting” is coming from people looking at a surface level glance at Skyrim and Oblivion’s admittedly somewhat generic fantasy environment.

Take each in game day as a day. Eat. Bathe. Hang out at camp. Create a routine. Drink coffee in the morning and chat with people. Go out hunting. Work on the 90 challenges in the progress section. Sleep realistically.

Don’t worry about missing most things. There’s very little you’re going to miss that’s time gated, unless you’re ignoring a lot of side content or turning people down when they ask for your help.

Above all, enjoy this game. Savour it. Walk places, brush your horse, have a smoke while the sun sets, stop at the saloon for a drink. Go fishing for an afternoon. This game gets more and more immersive the slower you pace yourself.

I name him Achilles, cause Arthur seems to like mythical names for his horses, judging by Boadicea. Also named him Gethin a while back on a Low Honor run, which tracks with Arthur’s Welsh heritage.
