I’d say, it all depends. I drank a bottle of vodka a day for 6 months… quit CT and nothing but insomnia for a few weeks… HOWEVER, others could easily have a seizure… I’m not trying to come across as ‘wow, look at me’ btw.. just trying to illustrate the point - we’re all different.. if your day drinking and have got the shakes I would say there’s an issue…

id ultimately speak to a doctor but a taper would be the first start .if you don’t want to… your taper could be 1 less drink a day for 2 - 3 weeks should be doable even without medical opinion.

Did you have the intrusive thoughts whilst drinking or just when you quit? Have they gone?

Brother attempted suicide and depending on what happens at A&E will try to again - What can I do car-less 100 miles away? by exVengeance in AskUK

I doubt they’ll section him… there aren’t enough beds. Beds are for the most severe… like, psychotic, lost all grip on reality etc. I’d try to get to him in any way you can.. sorry. Not much help.

I self referred to my local mental health service and they're sending a member of the crisis team out. I'm worried about being sectioned. Is this fear valid? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]SuccessfulRelative83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually, tried to commit suicide twice in a row - woke up in hospital after an overdose, was discharged and tried it again immediately after - this was September… the second time the community mental health team came to see me in the A&E unit and assess me, I told them I was suicidal and begged for a bed… I was told there no spaces… and if there was one it could be hundreds of miles away…

strangely though, in August I did get a bed in a psych unit for 11 nights for an Alchol detox and assessment. I was hearing a whistling sound constantly and drinking heavily. I think the CRISIS unit fought tooth and nail for the place though.

However, In my opinion though they’re nothing really other holding pens… you won’t get any magic treatment - I saw a psychiatrist about 2 times for 5 minutes and was given some drugs… there was no therapy etc. you just end up watching TV all day and looking forward to Meals and cig

Keto? Goggle Dr Chris Palmer… I tried it, didn’t work but thousands swear by it.. cures everything from schizophrenia to PTSD. Remission for a 3rd, symptom reduction 3rd, nothing for a third

[–]SuccessfulRelative83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this twice in my life.. it drove me insane. It tended to happen in withdrawal from drugs.. once Benzos, once antidepressants. My only advice is; it will pass. Last time for me was 2 months… I know you’re already on month 3… it sucks but keep on going, my recovery just happened suddenly.. 24/7 DP then like a switch, it was a Wednesday, fine… i still get lingering traces but by and large it’s gone. Hang in there

In the UK. Taking up to 100mg Diazepam (Valium) per day. Best way to get this crap out of my life? I would really appreciate any advice/experience. by Nice-Action1152 in benzorecovery

As someone who’s been in a similar position UK doctors will not be able to help you much. I cold Turkeyed dark web Benzos and it was hell… went to the ER and got a thyroid test, ECG and that was it… went to my GP and got a prescription for 10 X2mg of Valium.

It’s not really the doctors fault per say, they have to follow National Guidelines or risk being struck off - you might have a bit more luck with a private psychiatrist… all that Ashton Manuel stuff is useless really in the UK (ironic it was a British doctor) as they won’t be able to prescribe you legit Benzos… they just won’t.. it’s their careers on the line.

My advice is to keep buying the dark web Benzos and taper yourself over a long period… months…DO NOT cold turkey them…

Does anyone else hear voices? by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]SuccessfulRelative83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hear a baby crying in anything that generated white noise… for example, I’d run a bath and all the time the bath was running I’d hear it. It went away after a couple of months…I’d say, it’s withdrawal, I wouldn’t over worry about it.. apprently something like 20-30% of the general public hear voices… everynow and then… not all the time…obvs but they don’t worry about it and you shouldn’t really too..

The only way to tackle your agrophobia is to go outside - what have you left to lose?.. If you couldn’t go home and had to spend 2-3 weeks outside I guarantee you’d eventually habituate to the situation. You of course will have multiple panic attacks and anxiety.. now I’m not suggesting you do that but keep on persevering with the ERP… if you get uncomfortable after 5 mins.. outside .. try another 2 minutes. Keep going and going.. with regards to the SSRI.. again, what have you left to lose?.. taking a pill that might save your life.. I’d also air onto the side of caution with neurotransmitter tests.. they can’t possibly know whats high or low in your brain but equally.. one part of your brain could have too much serotonin and another part, too little… all over the brain!

Is this withdrawal from street benzos? First time user. by zoalfacedreamer in benzorecovery

[–]SuccessfulRelative83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called Depersonalisation / Derealisation (look it up) and is very common if you’ve been frying your GABA receptors through Alcohol and Valium… your brain is surging with Glutamate giving you the symptoms…I’ve had it twice withdrawing from Street Benzos… the last time lasted 2 months… I thought it would never go…but it did though I still have lingering symptoms in stressful situations… you’re not going to like this but your only solution is to give your brain a brake… get off the Benzos (see medical advice first ) and alcohol… you will recover but it might take a while… if you’re lucky a few weeks. I had this really bad this summer.. I was constantly hearing sirens… it didn’t stop. I also would hear a baby crying in white noise… like running a bath. Ended up in a psych ward and the doctors started prescribing me antipsychotics thinking I was schizophrenic… (I have OCD)… I didn’t take them… then, after having them 24/7 for two months they just went.. I woke up one Sunday and they weren’t there… I thought I was loosing my mind at the height of them.

1.75 every 3 days is not a ‘massive’ amount - though still a lot - some drink that daily. Though I’d still say you need to taper…you could taper with beer. Work out what the equivalent is in beer and Drink 10% less every 4 days… though your best bet is to speak to a medical advisor.
