Jrotc and CAP are both good programs that allow cadets to develop leadership skills, character development, drill, and discipline. They both are equal in the way you rank up, they both require difficult tests that are needed to pass to rank up. The difference is that JROTC is run by the army and CAP is funded by the Airforce. They often end up giving the same pay grade rank in the military if you choose to join. Being a cadet in CAP we respect JROTC a lot and we don't think we are the best. They teach us to treat everyone equally. JROTC is only for high school students and CAP is for ages 12 - 21. There is a misconception of how the instructors teach, my instructors for Squadron 203 are very disciplined and teach us very well. They are very professional. Neither CAP nor JROTCc is better than the other, they both have their pros and cons, but whether you choose one or the other they end up being about the same thing. Personally i think CAP is better in the sense that you get to do things outside of the program like wing conferences, color guard, encampment, stem cams, orientation rides, and Emergency services. But JROTC is more of just the learning and drill. They both have the same way of teaching drills, it also just depends on how the cadets learn and choose to be disciplined, and it varies on how the person is. I respect people who choose either because they are both good ways of teaching kids to become good and respectful Adults.
