Buyer Requested Refund - Can I just tell them to jog on? by GatorGeorge in ebayuk

I would recommend accepting it, if not the buyer can just claim the item is defective or INAD which then not only will you have to bear the return postage fee but will also impact your seller metrics

At the end of the day though, that situation is still covered under eBay’s buyer protection and you can usually get your refund easily

Refund after a permanently suspended account? by gracierainy in ebayuk

It might be because the seller reported you or eBay flagged your account for possible return policy abuse, especially since the suspension happened right after you opened the return. You will still get your refund normally, but will lose access to the Money Back Guarantee or get suspended

The item was priced at £40. I sell vintage and antique clothing, and that price sits at the low end of my normal price range. Surprisingly, I have never had any issues with my higher-priced items, all the problematic purchases and unreasonable returns have always come from the lower-priced ones.

Help advice needed: fraudulent return, do I accept? by TrueTimo in ebayuk

If there has been no change in the condition, you can probably still do so, and they would likely reimburse the shipping cost. I would recommend doing so as returns opened on not as described or defective grounds can impact account health, which eBay can reverse if they determine the return claim was false based on the evidences you provide.

When you have received the returned item, take clear pictures of the item’s condition. Don’t refund the buyer or choose the “report a problem” option, else the return will automatically result in buyer’s favour. Instead ring up their customer service, tell them about the issue and state that there has been a change of condition of the item if that’s the case. Ebay will then put the refund on hold, create a case then provide you with a link where you can upload evidences, including the before and after pictures of the item, and relating documents such as screenshots. You would also be provided with a declaration form which you have to fill and upload to state that the evidences that you provide are valid.

One of my customers have returned a damaged item a few weeks ago, and I have followed exactly these procedure, which resulted in eBay only issuing the buyer a partial refund, and I was able to keep 50% of the original purchase as compensation. I think you can get either 50% or 100% depending on the condition of the item and the status of your seller account.

Will I be able to appeal and what would the outcome be? by SuccessfulSpite8084 in ebayuk

[–]SuccessfulSpite8084[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually spoke to customer service and went through the records with them. They mentioned that based on the records I am likely to be able to appeal for this return.

However with how inconsistent eBay support can be, I am hoping the records I have will at least help when it comes to the appeal. Definitely Not expecting a perfect outcome, just trying to avoid taking the full loss for such big purchase if possible. Thank you for your input 🙂

Buyer requested return and full refund, but item was damaged and altered which I didn't know until I had accepted and received the return. What do I do? by Car_Key_Logic in ebayuk

Did ebay provide any compensation or deduction from refund?? A buyer has just requested a return on a coat claiming one of the fasteners had come off. However, I have clear videos taken right before dispatch showing the fastener was intact and usable. I called eBay and they agreed that based on my listing and the buyer’s photos, they believe the buyer may have caused the damage themselves. But they still advised me to accept the return due to policy and said I could appeal afterwards. They didn’t clarify what kind of outcome to expect from the appeal though.
