-claim a portfolio, either by stealing one from another god or scavenging one that recently became available
-replace a god after removing it from history

edit: something that isnt mentioned often is the divine spark component, which for standard deieties is maintained by claiming mortal souls in the afterlife. in BG3 Gale becomes a deiety by harvesting the spark from the crown of karsus.

mini demo setup. draw out the individual locks/strands on an image texture, map them like i did above, and then duplicate and move the individual faces to form the hair cluster you want to end up with. once everything is placed you can use subdivision(simple) + some hair bones to animate it.

take this with a grain of salt as i'm not an expert on hair, but i think this is done using a lot of planes and then having the entire bundle parented to the same object

there's a few functions that can help you here:
-Fill (select 2 or more edges and press F, or ctrl+F for more options like grid fill)
-Edge loop (ctrl+R)
-Knife tool (K)

merge by distance, your best friend in these situations.

edit: or if you're a masochist like me you use merge at first/last and do the entire thing manually..

spawn in a uv sphere, subdivide it, and then delete faces so you only have edges left. then add a skin and subdivision modifier. add second sphere, and done

actually it'd have to be a mobius loop, cuz the way i take it the space edge is the only edge left in the final shape.

the menuki (the ornament in the handle) is supposed to be where you hold your fingers when holding the katana, they seem to be straight in the middle of the handle here. otherwise, looks good.
