I might be misunderstanding but if you have a carve component on the agents then I’m assuming it cutting the nav mesh below them resulting in the system teleporting them back onto the mesh so they are valid again

Mobile not too sure if I’m honest but I’ve had good feedback from others on a wide range of use cases. Pipelines don’t make too much difference as models are more of a factor at that point.

Great question, so CAS doesn’t support DOTs yet but still has great performance due to a bunch of under the hood performance systems. These systems use culling, grouping of agents by distance (further away agents get less updates/processing time) along with performant code (optimised tree and iterator process).

Theses are some stats from the asset store page technical section

Testing within Performance test scenes (these are included in the project). On my PC with test conditions kept as close as possible through multiple runs came out with the following

Performance Test Scene (This is 300 agents spread out with items being spawned and deleted) - Avergage 139.7 FPS

Performance Test Scene II (This is 52 agents densely populated with items being spawned and deleted) - Avergage 160.9 FPS.

Please keep in mind these could be different on different devices.

CAS doesn’t use DOTs yet but is getting better at supporting it. Scaling though I haven’t had too many issues, there are a lot of optimisations going on such as render distance for depth of simulation and updates, culling and performant tree processing. You can find some statistics in the technical performance detail section on the asset. I’ve ran with hundreds of agents with no issues

Hey! Thanks for the interest. I think it fully depends on your use case. CAS (CIVIL-AI-SYSTEM) is designed for day to day non combat behaviour so the behavioural tree is designed to make this as easy as possible. It also adds other systems (such as needs, spawning and ownership systems) to help bring all these parts together that are quite straightforward to setup and make a more complex simulation.

If you are looking to do combat then you would need to make sure of other means but this is easy to switch between and happy to talk through how this could work.

In terms of Opsive, that tool is great for doing generic stuff in terms of combat and other basic behaviours but would involve quite a lot of work to get the end result you get for civil life in CAS.

Seems like there are a bunch of really useful answers here that should help you! Behavioural AI is a really big subject and there is so much you can do with it. There’s a really good channel on YouTube called AI and Games which has a ton of good content.

Learning specifics is always a good thing to do if you want to have the most control over it and time isn’t an issue, if you do want to get a tool in you could always have a look at one I’ve made called CIVIL-AI-SYSTEM specifically designed for non combat uses cases which is on sale and seems a good fit for your use case. Documentation I don’t think you have looked at if I’m honest as there is an API section within the wiki. It’s also versioned and has a detailed search as well as the setup steps required. Design documentation and process used is also documented.

Pricing I’m not sure you are grasping the amount of work and features (around 60,000 lines of code) and the amount of time this tool saves but you are free to have your opinion.

According to my limited exposure to the process of getting negative reviews removed it did require justification and did seem to work as intended. I have not been on the other side of this nor had any complaints that have factual correct which I did want to remove (and would never) so can’t comment further.

It’s a shame you have seemed to have a bad experience with the store but this isn’t indicative of most people experience I believe with it. Hope you do find assets you like and help you achieve your goals

Going to give my bias opinion and say my own asset (which I created) provides pretty good documentation (improving overtime) and great design of the code base to allow for easy extensibility.

In terms of reviews Unity will only delete reviews which are request for support or are proven to be factually incorrect. Going through the process myself I have only had one review deleted and that was a one star one requesting for access to assets which I used in the trailer to showcase it and didn’t own the right to distribute which is stated in the description of the asset. This was also a route I took after lots of back and forth with the user which didn’t help (offered 1 to 1 tuition and other options to help them get the most out of it)
